Thanks for the guide as to where this is! Just got a qashqai 1.6 which I'm hoping is the same location. On thing though - Don't smash it with a screwdriver - Mr Muscle over cleaner does a fine job - more of less the same stuff as you'd pay £10 a can for under the name of EGR carb cleaner. Spray it all over with that stuff, wait a few minutes and most of the gunk will just rinse right out. Small wire brushes will clean the rest no problem.

Hi, on 1,6 dci (R9M) the EGR is in the same position as 1,5 engine ? Can you confirm ? Thx.

What did you use to clean the valve and the pipe? I have some old carburettor cleaner lying around so wondering if that would work on this?

Did it make any difference? I have a hesitation under hard acceleration in around 1800 to 2000. Thinking to try to clean EGR as you did.

It makes a bit deferent and I changed the fuel filter as well, but I filled the tanks from shell and it was like I drive a different car So I think it was the fuel, usually I was filling from super market

"I don't want to hit the EGR directly" 10 seconds later SMACK SMACK SMACK 😂 I've resorted to things like that many times, like my valve cover being delicate but it literally would not come away so I just took the chance and used a bit of brute force. That EGR was so bad, the oven cleaner did a good job, I used brake cleaner and a toothbrush on my BMW and it came out quite nice. I need to have a look at the EGR on my 1.6 qashqai with the R9M engine. Did you notice fuel consumption improvement? The timing cover is leaking on mine as well, the Nissan Qashqai was supposed to be a simple family run around, it looks like I'll be working on the Nissan as much as my E90 😭
