hey buddy! I've restored my sliding one-way bearing by literally using a Dremel tool with a coarse sandpaper bit on the starting shaft (lightly). So far it has not slipped again. It was a risky trial method, but it has worked. Good work on explaining the 2 types of one-way bearings.

Great tutorial video on this problem. I have an old Kyosho GS-11 engine with a pullstart that has an internal bearing (called FD24 on Kyosho part no list) The problem I have is that if I take the bearing out and clean it it works just fine. It works fine until the motor starts but as soon as the motor starts the one way bearing stops working directly. It must be that it gets contaminated with fuel and oil as soon as fuel gets into the crankcase. This is really strange since this will be impossible to avoid since the bearing sits inside the crankcase. I have also tried to grind slightly on the shaft without and imrovements. Do you have any idea what could cause this? Since the bearing works fine everytime I clean it it can`t be a bad bearing I think, could it be something else?

good video. Tried cleaning without using sandpaper/stealtissue on the starting shaft. Worked for about 2 starts and it started slipping again. Ordered new one way bearing, if that dosnt work i will try using sandpaper lightly on the starting shaft.

You don’t want to scuff the shaft too much, don’t oil the one way bearing and make sure to install the one way bearing the right way. And you will be fine.
