That was really helpful, thank you. I clean mine by leaving them in a sink of boiling water and a dishwasher tablet. I leave them there for a couple of hours and then let them dry on my rack.

aluminium grease filter doesn't need the use of a disposable paper filter??? or is it still possible to use on them?

I would be grateful to have a video showing how to replace the recessed bulbs. None of the booklets that came with the appliance show how that is done and there are no recesses to fit a screwdriver to flip out the glass lens as happens with some hoods. I am baffled. Thank you.

Can I wash the filters in washing up liquid or flash all purpose spray cleaner?
@eeyvrcs3 жыл бұрын
Personally, unless you're cleaning it daily I really don't think washing up liquid or all purpose cleaners are really suitable/recommended. These solutions won't damage the filters but you yourself may end up damaging the filters over scrubbing because these solutions are not oven grease removers. I cleaned mine yesterday. Didn't watch any video but I did use _Cif Perfect Finish Oven & Grill_ simply because that's what I had, bought over a year ago for £1 on offer, but also its an oven degreaser so it's right for the job. It worked great and I have plenty left to last me 2 years if I clean every 3 months. Mind you, I reckon any decent oven degreaser should work too. Steps I did to clean: 1. Spray 8-10 spots of foam on external/hob facing side and use an old soft toothbrush to *lightly* work in for full coverage. 2. Flip over, spray 3-4 more spots on other side and work in *lightly* until fully covered. You're just covering, not cleaning yet. 3. Repeat for second panel then leave both panels stacked for 30-60 mins and let the Cif solution work/loosen the grease. 4. Then, holding the panel lightly, never pressing fingers or brush into the mesh, under a *very slow flow of water*, use the toothbrush in small 2-4cm circular motions to properly, still lightly but firmer than before, brush the grease away one quarter of the panel at a time. The water flow should be light enough to flush just a small amount of the suds/section to see if clean or needs a bit more work before moving on. Look at the panels at different angles to check all grease has been cleaned away. The aim is to clean but not rinse all the suds away (yet). Also, have the water flowing just over the section you're working and turn the panel 90 degrees as you clean, this way you don't rinse all the solution away before brushing all bits. 5. Flip over and do the other side. If you've used a very light water flow you may not need to apply any more Cif. 6. Repeat for second panel then rinse and leave both in dish rack to air dry. Excluding time left soaking, I'd say this all took less than 25 minutes of actual cleaning effort.

Hi, do you need any other filters on the hood other than these filters. We have just purchased a hood and dose not come with any other filters but carbon filter can be fitted to the side of the motors but are these needed? they is no cloth in the grease filter just mesh.

Hi Ian Could you send me the model number so I can have a look...some grease filters are just metal mesh with the no material. Kind regards HotpointService

The carbon filter is only for extractor fans that have no way of venting to the outside and they are there to absorb mostly cooking smells rather than any grease. I have a Hotpoint cooker hood extractor and removed the carbon filter straight away as it vents directly to the outside. It is mounted on an external wall and the ducting is about as short as possible. If anything, the carbon filter will seriously hinder your extractors abilty to move large volumes of cooking smells and grease from out of your cooking area as it requires a lot more power (and noise) to push air through the filter.
