The tips for thumb positioning are so helpful, I always had my thumb way to far up the fretboard (behind my ringfinger), which needed way more strength in my thumb. Really helpful and well worded tips!

Self-taught here. Truly grateful for your lessons. I struggle with fretting the high E string in all the barre chords, especially the A shape. Any help from the community would be amazing. Thank you!

I usually leave out the high E string when playing A shape bar chords. I do this so I can just fret all 3 of the notes with my pinky. If you're using the standard technique, then shifting your bar vertically into a more comfortable position for your hand should help.

Hi Andrew, the quality of this video is (as usual) really high 👍 thanks for your work 👏 I would add a small hint from my side for those who would still be struggling with the E minor bar chord while no longer with the E major one: Try to shift your index position a bit upwards or downwards to check if the 4th / G string would no more sound muted. Even slightly rotated sidewards, I had to position it a bit upper in my case to finally release sound from that reluctant string! :) It took me a lot of time to figure out this was my real problem so it might be useful for someone else. Strength didn't help at all to solve this therefore I completely agree with your argument on 7:30 Don't overestimate the need of strength but rather check your technic 👍

Thanks, Andrew! Just want to add that people who struggling long time with bar chords, especially on acoustic with steel strings need to learn about "string action". Sometimes few turns of the rod can solve the problem. But if you not sure in you actions better give your guitar to workshop for adjusting) About the thumb position) I have a small fingers and it really helps when the thumb located Infront of the middle finger during the bar chords. But also it depends where your hand hold the neck) It all about self comfort and relax. Totally agree with Andrew about forse and if you have long fingers advice you to check his previous videos about other bar chords techniques and thumb position.

Hey is there any chance you have experience arranging fingerstyle guitar tabs? Or not even tabs just figuring out how to play a song fingerstyle. I would love a video on that. Either way thank you for all the videos I started watching you a couple months ago and have improved a lot :)
