I was once making sugar wax and accidentally cooked it too long, and I freaked out thinking I messed up the pan forever because it became completely solid lol. This would have been helpful to know back then. I ended up just soaking the whole pan with water and realized that the sugar mixture was slowly dissolving in the water, so I soaked the pan over and over until it was clean. This looks much easier!

ex pastry chef here - i would use up the sugar for something. but if there's nothing to use and still have sugar in your pot that is caramelized, IMMEDIATELY submerge the whole pot with water. if possible, warm 50ish deg Celsius water. leave it there and just clean up the rest... there should be minimal sugars left behind to easily clean.

I like to just fill the whole thing with water and put on a lid then let is simmer. When it cools down it becomes liquid all together so I just dump it down the drain. That way u don’t get extra utensils dirty and it doesn’t stick in places. Note for everyone that’s slow I put a lot of water so it becomes very liquidy it just becomes like a very thin syrup, it doesn’t crystallize. I’ve had it stay for days on my stove before it doesn’t do that. I also use my sink and hot water often so nothing has a chance to crystalize even if it could.

Puerto Rican here who makes a lot of flan. This is extra. Just put hot water in the pan and swirl it. Do this over and over until the sugar is gone.

Even easier: just put water hot or cold in the pan. The water must be in contact with all of the cooked sugar and wait. It will come right away after a while. Caramel melts with humidity

I find if you fill it with water and just let it boil away the sugar will dissolve and then just dump the water. You want to dilute the sugar pretty heavily though so you don’t get more hardening or syrup

This is extra work lol After making tanghulu, I put very warm water and dish soap in the pan/ pot and let it sit in the sink for a while until majority of the sugar is completely melted and dissolved into the water. If there are extra bits of sugar crystals in the pot/pan, scrub it with very warm water and the small sugar crystals should dissolve. No need to use the stove for this either.

I'm a pastry chef and I just put some normal water and let it stay for a while. The sugar melts and I just throw it away.

This water boiling method works well for most everything! Tore up the pan cooking? It’s already hot! Take out the contents and boil water in it and when you pour it out and rinse it most of the stuff will come off!

After taking it off from pan, let it crystalized once again. The leftovers sugar can be eaten like a candy or lolipop. But maybe it's just me, because some people don't like the taste of a simple crystalized sugar without anything else 😅

I like to empty the syrup into a bowl while it’s still runny then soak the pot in water for a bit before washing it then throw the syrup in the bin if you don’t need to use it

I make my tangooloo with fruit very cold water in a measuring cup, and make sure you put 2 cups of sugar in the measuring then put cold water in the measuring cup after you pore your sugar in the pot then make sure your sugar gets hot enough then go ahead and get chopsticks then dip it in the boiling hot sugar then dip and swirl it in the cold water fast if the sugar gets drippy when you lift it up let the sugar get hotter

Soaking it also works btw simple and save gas or electricity whichever runs the stove ☺️
