Some tricks I learned from a professional cleaner that had a company that cleaned rentals. Use a razor blade paint scraper held at a very low angle. With my toaster oven I just spray the inside with Simple Green, let it sit for a while, then use the paint scraper to get off the baked grease. After that I use a green pot scrubber to get to the areas that are difficult to reach with the scraper. Soaking time about 30-60 minutes, scrubbing time about 15 minutes and it's done. Green scrubby or SOS do a great job on the rack.

When I lived in an apartment the maintenance would come in monthly and spray oven cleaner in tenants ovens without telling us and I was actually using my oven without knowing they did that. I’m not the type that would not clean my oven so I’m wondering now if I’m going to have medical problems from that. I like the baking soda idea. Thank you for bringing us along while you clean. A trick to clean a cooking pan with a dishwasher soap pod: after boiling water in the pan, insert the pod, let it sit for awhile, then scrub off residue. Shiny clean. What if you boil the water, insert the pod, pour in the sink or pale, and let the bottom sheet sit in that for awhile; see if that works.

If that's a Breville like mine (and I think it is), they explicitly say in the manual NOT to cover the crumb tray with tinfoil due to fire hazard. Since the bottom try is removable and not a cooking surface, I just went ahead and used Easy Off on it. I put it in a rubbermaid container outside like you had and just coated the heck out of it, then I triple washed it. It came out great.

Use the powder form of BKF and make a paste with water. Coat the tray in the paste and let it sit for a few days. I keep it moist with a spray bottle (not sure this is absolutely necessary though). You can then scrape off the goo, and/or scrub with a scotchbrite pad. Repeat if necessary. It can take a while, and it will never be like new, but you can improve it with the paste, time and a little bit of elbow grease.

I use heavy duty aluminum foil on my drip tray, held down with small round magnets on each corner. Also, Barkeeper's Friend comes in a powder which I think is much better than the liquid in some situations as you can control how thick you want it. I make a thick past with it that works better than vinegar and baking sode (IMHO) especially when you let it sit a good while
@madasahatter4489
@madasahatter4489 2 жыл бұрын
Good call on the magnets! Thanks! We've lined our crumb tray ( and baking pan) with foil from the start but hadn't thought of magnets to hold it in place. Even at highest temps the foil doesn't doesn't cause overheating - We've checked temp with an infrared thermometer. Toaster oven pans and trays are not stainless steel and stain easily- Protecting them with foil eliminates baked on polymerized oil that simply can't be entirely cleaned off.

Try putting them crates and tray in ammonia overnight. Either a tote or h garbage bag closed tight. Does not have to be completely immersed the fumes do the work. You can also leave a bowl in oven overnight. Does wonders for grates and burners for stove also. I use the grill brush on basket.

I use BBQ GRILL sheets with magnets to hold it up to the walls inside . The “ Sheets “ are high heat resistant and catches the grease / protects the walls inside .

I’ve seen a cookie sheet with similar staining cleaned with oven cleaner. Also I have successfully used tin foil to wrap the tray in mine, but then found out it could be a potential safety hazard and stopped.

Brillo. It doesn't scratch and eliminate all that grease. Clean the tray after you use it. I use sometimes oven cleaner, guilty but them I wipe it off several time with a damp rag.

The baking soda and vinegar paste won't be good. This oven has a mesh for the air fryer and convention. If the paste goes into those holes, it's almost impossible to take em out. And every time you bake something, the particles of dried baking soda will pour over your food

That is so true. I tried her technique and I have the same exact oven. Now, whenever I open my oven there are white particles all over the trays. So useless.

As a last ditch effort to chemically remove burnt food from a stainless steel surface, NaOH (sodium hydroxide, "lye") could work. Do not use on aluminum (NaOH dissolves it). That's a very harsh chemical though used to dissolve organic material, so use with high caution and protective gear meant to withstand it. Be careful with the cleanup, diluting heavily before pouring down the drain. Might be safer to just buy a new tray. Or do what someone else said and spend some careful time with a razer blade. Cheers!

I have a Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro, with the quartz heating elements. Breville manual states, "gently rub a soft, damp sponge or cloth along the length of the heating element. Do not use any type of cleanser or cleaning agent. Do not use any standard oven cleaner to clean the interior of the oven as this will deteriorate the metal surface." So how do I clean the quartz elements once they get covered and discolored from air frying oily things? They don't look nice at all.

I just did the first clean up of my Wolfgang Pressure Oven (essentially a toaster oven on steroids with steam baking), after almost 5 years of weekly use, and just used about 1/3 can of some 5+ year old Easy-off (in 2 passes), and it was really a relatively quick (with 1/2 hour waits) and very effective cleaning, albeit a bit stinky from the fumes (it was the older version). Perhaps this would have worked for you.

Are used to work for Sur La Table and I sold a lot of these Breville toaster ovens and I’ve had two in the past… The bottom tray is the worst thing to clean… Everyone complains about how bad it is… With that being said, whatever you do, do not put aluminum foil on the bottom of this pan! Why because the rep from breville told me that the kind of metal and the reflective action when the toaster oven isn’t use it doesn’t cook or bake properly… I’ve even asked the Breville rep. How do you clean it and the only thing she could tell me was, “you have to clean it every time you use it!"And I told her "...that is completely impractical. there has to be a better solution.?"she couldn’t answer me… So the only thing I can suggest is that you have to buy a whole new pan… But check with the Breville website on how to clean the Crumb pan.

I never saw the top inside of the oven, before or after cleaning. I have the exact same model of oven, I have been using it for 1 and a half years. I have cooked steak, chicken, fish, pork 7 days a week in that time. I found 3 days ago unbeknownst to me a large thick accumulation of baked on grease oil and ? soot( from occasional burned meal) on the oven interior roof. I never saw the roof of your oven. I am curious to see how well you cleaned above the heating elements I consider this a major over site.
@AfterTap
@AfterTap 3 жыл бұрын
Edgar Cox thank you for watching! Appreciate you commenting and bringing the oversight to my attention. While my toaster oven didn’t accumulate build up on the roof, I used the same solution throughout the inside of the appliance. Be careful if you are to use this method to not scrub the actual heating mechanisms but just in between. This video is not real time or else it would be well over an hour but hopefully you got the gist of what worked well for me. Good luck!!

Why do people mix baking soda and vinegar for cleaning? Is there something about a neutral acetate? I'd use one or the other, not both.

Just ignore the soiling on the crumb tray. It's polymerised oils and sugars (plastic). It causes no problems. As for a suggestion, when listening to music like that, it's best to use a long metal skewer inserted forcefully into one eardrum, through the brain and out the other eardrum - good as new!

Vinegar and baking soda cancel each other out. One is high pH and other low pH. The baking soda will have some grittiness which will help but using them separately would be better.

Hi Betty, same exact solution of baking soda and vinegar but be mindful of if you have heating wire. It's a bit tricky to go around so you'll need to go slow and I like to flip the unplugged toaster oven upside down to get a better look at what I'm doing. Hope it helps! When in doubt a very hot wash cloth does wonders.
