This applies to most commercial sanitaire vacuums they disassemble all in the same manner

I used to repair vacuums in the mid eighties and the Sanitaire was easy to fix and extremely durable. I have a sanitaire that I have had well over twenty years. Vacuums today are total crap.

Really? Cause mine has a height adjustment issue..Not the nob, but it either sits too low for brush to move or too high to touch the floor .any suggestions?
@environmentcontrolsouthden18973 жыл бұрын
Good video but... You put the vacuum belt on backwards - the belt fits in the groove so the vacuum is pulling forward when running. Your example makes the vacuum push backward and brushes dirt forward.

Thanks for making this video. I, too, believe in buying one of these commercial units because of their built-in longevity factor. In fact, the sales girl in the local Sewing Center asked why I wanted such an expensive upright vacuum. "Because these are very rugged and are easy to repair." Some decade later, my Sanitaire is still going strong. And because parts are so readily available and relatively cheap, you'd be a damn fool to buy something else.

I would personally clean the entire vacuum too so it's not so filthy. Like other people have said you can replace the brush strips on the beater bar as well as clean and lube the bearings so that it spins freely again. That beater bar is pretty rusty though so I would probably just get a new one myself. It's amazing how many people will continue to replace vacuums for hundreds of dollars rather than buying one of these and just maintaining it with the minimal maintenance they require. Not to mention they will outperform any of those garbage plastic vacuums.

So true , If you replace the entire brush roller bar and rarely if ever vacuum deep shag I highly recommend the double brush bar for low mat carpet like commercial carpet like this i.ebayimg.com/images/g/TUoAAOSw95FZZZo0/s-l1600.jpg

I bought the 600 series (blue) about 7 years ago. I have had things break and had to pay a service fee for repair. The last time I was charged 85.00 due to lack of suction I have had an issue with the adjustment knob not moving so it is always on low. I'm frustrated and trying to find the way to fix it myself and save my money... thank you for explaining simple issues. 👈😊😊

I love how simple and reliable these things are I had 2000 16” SC899E, when I first acquired it, all I needed was a new belt, bag(it had a black cloth bag that takes Eureka F&G bags), and a new headlight, and surprisingly the bulb looks similar to one in my Kirby 514, except it’s 25 watts, and the one in my Kirby is only 15 watts, surprisingly that’s all that needed to be done even though it was dropped down some stairs, I guess these things are somewhat immune to fall damage, and mine even came with an original Sanitaire attachment kit which is still sitting in my grandma’s garage, i loved it, but I no longer have it because my city’s senior center where my grandma used to work is using it now and they love it just as much as me

I Have a Sanitaire SC-886 Shake-out bag machine, And a Smart Idea i Had is I put a Magnet On the Front Of the Machine And when i go To Vacuum I Will always See Paper Clips Or pins Or anything Like that and The magnet Pulls it up from the carpet while im vacuuming and it works really great👍
@MrRoverpilot2 жыл бұрын
There is already a commercial kit that has been a rate available for at least 15 years it is a great idea it would even be a good idea for people with their home vacuum cleaners. I will see if I can find a link to it for you

Sanitaire Vacuum in this video is GREAT!!!!! My problem is when vacuuming, the locks vibrate causing the plate to come off. A couple of times, the rotor and belt fell off. Is there anyway for me to fix it so this won't happen?
@MrRoverpilot5 жыл бұрын
Katherine Grice The first thing I need to ask is when it is secure the two clips that hold the lower plates in place do they snap into place firmly or do they seem to very loosely move around?. If they are very loose and move around when they are all supposed to be locked in place then they have been bent. Quite often this can be corrected with a needle nose pair of pliers. If on the other hand it seems to be firm when it’s in the locked position but still manages to vibrate loose the next thing to do is to put a 1 inch piece of electrical tape over the top of the locking tab that the locking lever then slides onto. The piece of electrical tape will add extra friction to keep it from sliding off in vibration

That is our headquarters , Not our Hotels. The Eureka is a vacuum given out when Tenants of our office building want to borrow one to clean up some mess. Inexpensive and disposable . Not a big loss if someone takes and never returns . Fairly effective. but not prone to theft

Mine is making a screeching noise after vacuuming up shards of broken glass over lots of moisture. Had a full carboy full of water that shattered on the carpet and I had to clean it up for safety reasons. How do you get at the motor bearings to see if that is causing it?
@MrRoverpilot5 жыл бұрын
Charles Skye Directly under the fan blade is possible culprit. The other bearing is away from where Glass would’ve gotten into. Another possibility is the bearings on the world itself or possibly since the dirt passes right by the belt, the belt may have been torn and maybe screeching
@cskye65295 жыл бұрын
MrRoverpilot I replaced the belt already and cleaned things up. What is the "world"?
@MrRoverpilot5 жыл бұрын
Charles Skye put a drop of oil at each end of the motor shaft and if the squealing goes away that is it. Easier to replace the motor than the bearings.
@MrRoverpilot5 жыл бұрын
Likely a model 697, Still likely either the motor or something has lodged its self between the Fan and housing
@cskye65295 жыл бұрын
MrRoverpilot It's a S661A Finally got the bolt off by using an adjustable wrench and tapping the wrench handle with a hammer like an impact driver might while holding the impeller. Cleaned everything out well and oiled both sides. Little rust on the outside of the bearing under the impeller. Got new gaskets and brushes at the vac store, everything works much better but it still has the high pitch whine.

I have a commercial 16 inch Sanitiare vacuum, I turned it on and the motor was squealing while I was vacuuming. What can cause it to do that? Could it be fist inside the motor?
@MrRoverpilot7 жыл бұрын
The motor uses Bronze bushings as bearings , , You can try a lube , but that only works for a while usually , I recommend a new motor that can be easily replaced and acquired from E-Bay for around $40 with free shipping . The motor can come with the fan already attached
@MrRoverpilot7 жыл бұрын
A recording of the sound would help , Greasing the surface with a high temp bearing grease would work but that requires alot of work to take the motor apart , Not worth the effort in my opinion
@puddintang297 жыл бұрын
MrRoverpilot Okay thanks! I turned it on earlier today and it squealed. It was picking up, but the squealing sounded like a light squeal until it got a little loud.

@MrRoverpilot2 жыл бұрын
I never said the vacuum was all original equipment. There are plenty of aftermarket parts that are available for it. And the aftermarket parts worked perfectly fine although if you have the money I recommend getting original parts. The vacuum in question was not owned by me. It was owned by the cleaning crew that cleans our building and they wouldn’t even replace the bolts that held the handle together. They just stuck a wire in it.
@DAlan09093 жыл бұрын
Yeah great vacuum with no damn hose attachment. Talk about a waste of manpower for housekeepers and professional office cleaners. Routinely you need a hose to vacuum corners and baseboards. And the cord clip doesn’t fold down to allow the cord to come loose. It’s a waste of time to have to unfold the chord. It’s a relic compared to what’s available. Facts.

I use these vacuum cleaners at work...your video is terrible. you didnt show how to actually take off the bag and clean it properly.. the person that is video caant aim.. and you should practice taking apart the vacuum cleaner b4 actually doing it on the video.
@MrRoverpilot2 ай бұрын
Taking off and cleaning the bag properly is just so straightforward. I thought it went beyond any need to show people how to do that only slightly more difficult than turning on the on switch. Perhaps you do need to be schooled on that so in that case, I do apologize and I will consider, a video specifically for you to show you change remove and clean the bag. I specifically tended to make a video on how to repair those things that prevented the normal operation of the vacuum cleaner , my bad.

Hi..I know this video was posted a long time ago but I need help! My Sanitaire sweeper height adjustment either sets too low for the belt to move or too high to touch the floor? Any advice? I have fixed (I thought) everything on that vacuum and didn't think anything else could go wrong..wrong..or is there someone, or company I could call?
@MrRoverpilot Жыл бұрын
Are you certain you have the belt twisted the proper direction? The height adjustment should never ever be able to stop the belt from moving smoothly
