We clip ours also to prevent flying out of the fenced in yard. 2 are still brats. So when we leave for a duration we leave a ladder in the yard for them to hop back in the pen area. Go Twins!

Good video Rich. We have a fenced back yard and want to keep the chickens in it. The 4 new chickens we got in the spring turned out to be flyers that flew over our 4 foot fence. (Nothing the height yours were flying in the barn.) We saw a video that indicated clipping the flight wing on one side would cause them to be off balance and not fly. That did not work for us so we had to clip the flight feathers on the other side. So far, that seems to have worked. Our roosts are about 40" and 60" off the floor. They might need to use the ramp I made.

Appreciate you sharing Rich. I eventually want to get some of that premier fencing so I can let mine roam a little further without the dogs getting them. So I will need to know this so they won’t fly over.

I would have loved to have seen the dismount when they were up there!

thanks I am not sure I am trying to make a paradise so they wont have the desire to hop over the fence, it is only less then 6ft, and one side neighbor stone is only like 5 so far hopped on the gate ,,, red stars yet when I open that shed door they fly sometimes smack me in the face they fly right out , they like to get on top of the cabinets as a launching pad, I don't have the nerve to cut anything on them, brother gets on my case just cause I massage them, on the belly for help with egg laying. Clean their feet , yeah nuts. They really love watching TV with the dog, on the couch, I was at work and brother accidently left the screen open they all came in and just had a dust bath in the flower beds and shook it out in the kitchen the front room, he had a fit and went in his room shut the door, left tons of dirt all over the floors, yet when I got home it was cleaned up. ;) guess not barn animals and when they shake that dirt off,,, wow tons
