How to Color Grade Multiple Clips in Resolve - DaVinci Resolve 17 Beginner Tutorial

Hey friends, here's a video where we go on an adventure! To where, you ask? Why, to the color page! Today we look at how to color grade multiple clips in Resolve 17!
Sometimes people ask: How the heck am I supposed to grade an entire film one shot at a time?! Well the answer is cheat! Seriously though, if you can grade one shot in a scene, you can pretty much copy and paste that look across all your clips in the same scene with the click of a button!
But which button you say?
The middle Mouse Button. The scroll wheel. Did you know that's also a button? So when you hear mouse button 3, or middle mouse, that's in reference to pushing the scroll wheel. Fun, right?

This is super. Casey, you are really taking the mystery out of color correction. Your explanations are to the point. I've learned so much from your videos; my biggest problem is evaluating the image but I think this will come with experience. I've been a life-long, hobbyist photographer so many of my skills transfer to video. I am really enjoying this.

great shortcut! thanks, I have been just adding a serial node make adjustments and then saving it, and adding the saved node to the other clips, kind of a long way around. Still new at DR and def new at color grading. Thanks

Thank you for the videos Casey. Your videos introduced me to Resolve and eventually, I want to switch to it fully from Premiere Pro. I'm pretty much a beginner at editing and I have a question regarding split screen coloring. What would be the best workflow to color each video in a split screen? I've been editing videos for our band where I usually have a split screen of all the members performing. Thank you in advance.

Mac user here - I just selected the clip I had adjusted and CMD+C then selected all the clips I wanted to paste and CMD+V

I have a tracking pad with my desktop as well as a more modern mac mouse without the scroll wheel. It would be nice if you could do an add-on showing what it is like with these types of mouses. Thanks.

Just use Cmd C and Cmd V (copy and paste).

This is great, I just learned it this technique because I was trying to figure out how to copy fusion elements to other clips. I don't remember where I read it though, one of the Fusion support forums I think.

Hi, thx for the great tutorial. So it is not possible to grade say one scene, and have it instantly apply across all the instances of that same scene used across the movie? We need to apply to every cut of the scene throughout the timeline?

Thx a lot for the video! It really helps a lot, as always :) Is there a possibility to do something similar to sound? I am looking for an easier way to synchronize the video sound to one level. At the moment I am adjusting clip by clip to ensure that the level is almost the same. Generally I am really interested in more sound tutorials. What possibilities are in DaVinci to improve voice overs, vlogging sound etc. Just ideas for upcoming videos :) Thx a lot for the great content! Regards Stefan

I believe instead of using adjustment clip you can also change - Colour Page editor to timeline mode - have you tried this method?

Would be different or wrong using nodes on timeline mode in the Colour page? As an example, throwing a Colour Space Transform node on a timeline node? This of course would apply if you have footage from the same camera manufacturer and model.

Dude, I get his feeling that you are reading your comments. I wanted to share with you my problem. When I do standard text as comments during my videos, I have to keep resetting the color and back ground of the properties of the text for each time I use text. Is there any way to keep the settings so that all my text after would start with the settings I made in the start of the video?

How do I apply color correction on multiple layers. For example, I have a static image over my video, but I can't blur out the background with my mask; when I try it blurs out the image, and it doesn't show the video in the selection, even though it's playing.
