As a fursuit maker, in one of my past experiences I had someone commission me and then be unhappy about their fursuit because they were looking at my previous wolf heads, and they ordered a fox, which commonly have longer and slimmer snouts than wolves. They were unhappy about this feature and demanded it be redone free of charge. If anyone plans on purchasing a suit, please don't demand a refund for a detail or two being slightly out of place, even though you paid for it, you need to be respectful!

As a fursuit maker in planning, I feel like I already know what people might say and yes it is annoying to be told "Can I have a free fursuit?" Or "Can you make my fursuit (extremely detailed) please?" I personally think this is hilarious as "Can I have a free fursuit?" Is a stupid thing to say as if we don't get money we don't make fursuits that's not what makes me laugh it's that they don't realize that without money it's impossible to make a fursuit! Also when someone says "Are you rich?" To a fursuit maker it's rude and an unnecessary question to ask but I will answer it for you so a fursuit maker doesn't have to, NO WE ARE NOT RICH even if we make fursuits for a high or low price we don't get that exact money we get ✨profit✨

I personally make suits, but no one really buys them lol, probably because my main source is Etsy and The Dealer's Den, where there are a lot of nicer suits being sold, and a lot of the audience in Etsy is children, who cant exactly afford a 600$ Fursuit head. But it's quite irritating having people request a quote, and then get angry that the price went up because they ordered a character with 5 colors, and they want 2 sets of handpaws, 3 tails of different lengths, and LED eyes. People really need to read descriptions if they are on a selling site :V

Im always afraid of commissioning a fursuit. Because id probably message once a week. So i decided to make the hand paws, feet paws head and tail, just the body suit is what i would struggle to make.

Hiya! I'm a first time buyer and am buying a full partial (with digigrade, knee high legs) They said I needed corresponding body measurements and I'm unsure what precise ones I need? They didn't specify. I getting a head, arm sleeves, paws, digigrade legs, and a tail.

all clear 'v' as a young fellow fur, I've always wanted to own a fursuit to even partials. Because we are here to have a lots of fun in the fandom, including me!!! But there are advantages and responsibilities to take to your own fursuit. How to take good care of it and clean it.

Another tip for younger furries still growing: if you REALLY want a suit, the best you can really do is paint a Dino mask buy some fur and make foam ears and fur them. Or buy like a cat ears headband and glue it for ears.

It really shouldn't have to be said but don't ask for/expect special treatment or exceptions from TOS. I had one person who kept hounding me about not wanting to provide a DTD. I explained to them multiple times, and on my TOS, that I *only* do full suits when a DTD is provided. Fursuit makers shouldn't have to bend to meet your criteria. If you want something specific like a full suit made from measurements, go to a maker who does that.

I disagree with don't #2 haggling in some cases as it can get you a better price. Now if the builder is not willing to haggle then drop it and look elsewhere for a cheaper fursuit builder. Now if the builder has published set prices then yes don't #2 fully applies. Now dont #2 applies to extablished builders and not people who are new and are trying to get some good suits out there to create a name for them selfs. Even a well known builder might consider a better deal if it's something they they want to build but no one asked for it to be built. If you want a fursuit but are willing to be limited in choices some builders do offer discounts on artistic freedom fursuits. You can ask any builder if they offer artistic freedom fursuits with a discount. You might have little to know say in colors as the builder has left over fur they would like to use up. Or you might have no say in the species as the builder has always wanted to make a spasific species but no one has ever commissioned that species of fursuit from them. Or even you might have no say in anything as they want to go crazy a d do something really different. It never hurts to ask any fursuit builder if they offer artistic freedom fursuits at a discount. But remember you are giving up any say to save money so don't go and complain that it's not what you wanted as it does not match your OC. I have a large number of fursuits as I look for really good bargains. A good number of them are pre-mades that happen to be of a stile that I happen to like and the price was to my liking. If you are really short on funds and are willing to look at pre-mades thedealersden and etsy are really good places to find really good bargains on fursuits. There are a number of fursuit builders who are in let's say cheaper countries to live in who build pre-mades that are for sale at low prices. Just be very careful of who you deal with as there are many scammers out there that are out to take you for everything they can.
