This week's Technique Tuesday I go over 3 simple ways that I like to condition my shins. Have tough shin bones and a higher pain tolerance will give you the mental edge when throwing your kicks, to the legs, body, or head. Muay Thai, MMA, and other Martial Artists can all benefit from shin conditioning. Thanks for watching!

What abt slamming stick as he said , does it condition the bone ?
@ChrisKsan
@ChrisKsan 2 жыл бұрын
@@markusflavor1949 Oh, yes. Absolutely! The way he is doing it is the most gradual, safe and I am still doing that. But when I was a kid, my dad who was a sensei would have us break sticks, branches, boards and stuff over and over again. The shooting pain on some of the breaks was intense! Especially when failing to break and knowing that I had to! A initial piercing pain locally, from the point of impact and then a radiating pain that lasts for several good seconds. Clench my teeth and go again! Interestingly is that after smashing enough stuff and breaking enough stuff, the area gets numb and hard and very warm. Same with fists (used to condition our fists and forearms as well). Fists would end up staying clenched for a while. However the end result is that I have never had any issue striking someone, something hard, never actually broken a bone in my life (needing a cast), survived receiving strikes from stronger, bigger opponents etc. Also a bonus is that quite often when others strike me, they tend to hurt themselves hitting me. Especially when I check kicks or block with my forearms. All that being said, as extreme as my dad used to be, recovery is vital! We wouldn't do all this conditioning non-stop. There would always be a recovery period when we'd work in something else entirely.

@@ChrisKsan if you would advise someone starting from scratch would you say do this for how long and how many times a week, unfortunately don’t have a bag at home was going to start with the stick
@ChrisKsan
@ChrisKsan 2 жыл бұрын
@@PLSX_Volatile For someone really starting from scratch, if I'm going to assume someone who doesn't train regularly and isn't quite fit, I'd recommend to start a routine of running first. At least 15, 20mins run per day, do some jumping jack's combinations, squats. The impacts from running, jumping and the loading of the legs promote good bone density and good combined with squats variations (own body weight), good muscle structure. All of this needs to be paired with decently balanced diet and proper rest for optimal results. After physical and mental effort the body always needs to rest in order to heal from the strain. Once fit, start rolling a piece of broomstick on your shins to condition your skin and surface nerves. Roll it, rub it, until one day (varies for every person) it becomes manageable or even comfortable. Depending on your pain tolerance, at any point of this stage, you can also start to lightly hit your shins with a stick, even a broom stick. Do this regularly, repeatedly, daily. Again, allow for proper sleep to recover and if you ever overdo it, hurts when using your leg, putting weight on it, carrying stuff, going up the stairs, dial it back for at least a week or stop the conditioning altogether for at least a week. Bones need to heal too. Now if you don't have a bag, there's several things you can do: Buy, get an old SH tire, fix it in place somewhere you can strike it. At first, you can pad it with some cloth until your skin and muscles get used to impacts, then you can strike it without padding. Don't need to go overboard, no need for maximum power right off the bat. The key to the whole process is consistency and rest. Light to moderate strikes in sets, daily. Also as a tip: whenever you are bored, stressed or whatever, find a stick and tap on your shins. When you feel more comfortable with it all, you can go to the woods or gather some sticks and boards and challenge yourself to brake them on your shins. Do this once a month. Again, consistency and rest are key. Mess up the rest or the diet, overdo it and you can hurt yourself unnecessarily.

Not if you associate Jesus Christ or anything or anyone as a god or a part of God with God as a god or parent or child or associate or worship anythinfg besides God or denies God's existence, you wont meet Jesus Christ. 100% sure except as an opponent against the perpetrators and their perpetrated lies by them over him his mother and God Almighty. Are you gonna be one of the perpetrators or are you gonna be one of the rectifiers and affirmers and followers of the true teachings of Jesus Christ? Do you believe Jesus submitted his will entirely to the Will of God, His Creator and creator of all or Not? Follow and believe in the religion that Jesus himself followed or are you just wasting life wishful thinking on meeting him for 100000 years and whatever. Do ypu really care for Jesus and for meeting him or are you just talking out of wishful uncorroborated assumptions? No its all wishful assumption when you associate Jesus or anything or anyone as a god or a part of God with God or denies God's existence you will meet him ??? The facts stand against this mythological notion. This exact notion is precisely what he was up against and spent his whole ministry service fighting it during the time he was working with the lost sheep of Israel to remind them of taking none other than God as their God and to worship only Him associating no other thing with God as god or lesser god or even any image with God and to do righteous deeds as he was doing them to attain success. Follow certainty. for truth is certainty is reality is absolute , everything else is conjecture assumption relative ...

I remember being a TKD Black Belt in the early '80s, I remember going into the Muay Thai world of kickboxing. It was really foreign to a lot of us Americans. Wow, it was so strange for me, but I learned to love it. I often wonder how I would have done in today's mix martial arts world. I had the concept of mix martial arts in 1980 after several years of TKD I went into boxing and a few years later traditional jujitsu and later Muay Thai. Initially, my desire was not to learn for sport but to be prepared for any situation in a real street fight. Those skills came in a few years later when I put the gloves down and became a cop. There is no stress like the stress of fighting for your own service weapon. Thanks for the video it brought make memories. I sometimes wish I was in your generation. I remember the days of $50.00 buck :-)

Thanks for sharing your story, some cops give the job a bad name but thanks for serving in the force and I'm glad your techniques kept you safe. I'm sure you woulda been one of the best of your era had UFC been around. If you ever get the urge to compete, light sparring might satisfy that

@@blackout.X , thank you for your kind comments. I am long retired, but I am grieved whenever I see men & and women in uniform dishonor their badge and fail their citizens. I took my oath to heart to protect and serve. I often looked for homeless people not to harass them but to buy them food. I use to love the looks on their faces when I approached them in their sleeping quarters. Officer, I am about to leave, I would tell them I am not here for that, are you hungry. I miss those days, but I am also very grateful for my martial arts training. When it was time to go into dangerous situations, I knew the fear of danger from my days of fighting in competitions and having champions as teammates. My Muay Thai training really helped me. A leg kicked looked a lot better in the eyes of the public than a head kick. Plus a leg kick was guaranteed to end the fight quickly. A street fighter never felt a leg kick with bad intentions. They are ready to be cuffed after that deal. Are you a marathon running, I have a daughter who loves to run. She actually ran the route of the first marathon in Greece a couple of years ago. I was going to train a few MMA fighters in striking a few years ago, mainly in the art of kicking. Thompson has shown that very few have an answer to high-level kicks. Sadly, my health prohibited this venture.

@@blackout.X , I do get the urge to compete, but I have some serious medical conditions from an on the job injury that would prohibit light sparring. I think conditioning is like the most important part of martial arts. I played football for a few years as a defensive lineman and then a linebacker after I slimmed down. My neck and skull were used to high impacts so when I sparred against an amateur light heavyweight in Muay Thai, I got kicked in the head as I was ducking a punch and it snapped me back to when I played ball. It was so familiar. My Head started pounding and I was buzzing in my knees but it made me focus and I finished out the round with the guy against the ropes. I got teep kicked in the guts and that honestly hurt 10x worse than the headkick because I wasn’t conditioned to take body shots. Will definitely work on conditioning my shins.

That head that starts pounding is cumulating permanent brain damage. Take that a lot and you'll get crippling CTE which leaves you dumb like down syndrome after your 60s, like all older fighters and football players in head bump positions

Condition your whole body, face included. Also when you scrape/rake your shins it really helps deaden those nerves and condition not just the skin but the bone, especially when you roll over those little crunchy beads.
