1. There have been some changes in the GA4 interface. This blog post addresses them www.analyticsmania.com/post/a...
2. at 12:22, I mentioned that we can use a custom event name "form_submission". However, there is a recommended event called "generate_lead" that you can use instead.
3. at 17:12, I inserted the user property in the wrong place in GTM. It was supposed to be in the "User Properties" section, not "Fields to set". Read more here www.analyticsmania.com/post/a...

You don’t have to create custom dimensions in Google Analytics 4. It’s enough to just send them. But if you plan to use them in GA interface, then don’t forget to register them in All Events → Manage Custom Definitions.
Also, keep in mind that there are some limits related to Google Analytics 4 custom parameters. All of that (and more) are covered in this GA4 tutorial.

Hi ! Thanks a lot for this video. The custom dimensions attribute their value to page_view automatically, when it's configured at Config level. Unfortunately, in my case, the values of my custom dimensions are not attributed automatically to events session_start and first_visit. Did you face the same issue ?

Great video! One question - How can I send custom UTMs variable to GA4? In UA, I was setting up variables in GTM that I was including as Custom Dimensions in the GA tag, so they would fire on any page of the site. Since GA4 is using the variables as parameters in the event tags only, what would be the best way to send custom UTMs variable without double tracking page views?

Hi Julian, based on this video I created a couple of custom dimensions in GA4 based on available (Video_URL and Video_Link). However when I pull them in Looker Studio they show up as "not set". However when I do an exploration chart in GA4 the link and title for the video appears correctly. Is there a way to debug this issue? Will you please be able to guide me to resolve this issue? Thank you!

This may be a stupid question, but are there any WordPress plugins or GTM packages that take care of integrating a lot of the standard WordPress taxonomy and data points (including categories/tags, author) as parameters for GA4 pageview events? I.e. WordPress author name becomes a parameter for the page_view dimension.

I am noticing when I drill down on certain events, that it is showing custom dimension/parameter that is registered even if they were not added to that event in GTM. For example a video event has click text event though it isnt an associated parameter. Click text is a parameter for other events, but not the video event. Has this happened for anyone else ? It is making the interface confusing and messy.

Hi, first I wanted to thank you for your tutorials... they've learned me a lot. However, I've still got a specific problems. I need to track the name of downloaded files for periods > 30 minutes... and whatever I do, I do not get that information in my event reports... I only get it for the standard 30 minutes. Do you have any idea how to solve that?

Isn't a session default timed to 30 minutes? Perhaps that is why? Idk, learning too!

Thank you for this video. I have a question and am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I need to record the "Stock Status" of items when they sell on our website. We have an attribute in the data layer named "item_in_warehouse" that is either Yes or No. I want to report conversion rates on individual products (SKU1, SKU2, etc) in relation to whether the item was able to "Ship Today" (in warehouse) or "Ship from Manufacturer" (not in warehouse). We know items sell more often then they are in our warehouse but we want more precision in the aggregate and also at product and brand level. I am currently recording this data in what I believe is a messy and inefficient way and I'm sure there has to be a simpler way. I have numerous tags that will fire "purchase_1_shipstoday" (purchase_2_shipstoday) and those events pass the custom dimensions "purchase_item1_id." So for a single purchase event I might have another 4 custom events (purchase item 1, purchase item 2, etc) recording 4 custom dimensions (purchase_item1_id, etc). Can you point me towards any resources that will show how to accomplish this is a more streamlined way? Or could you point me towards a consultant who we can hire to explain the steps? joshjones@keepsupply.com
