How to Conjugate and Use FAZER in Brazilian Portuguese in the Present Tense - Irregular Verb

IRREGULAR VERBS - 'FAZER' - (to) Do / (to) Make in Brazilian Portuguese - What are the most common irregular verbs in Portuguese? How to conjugate them in the present tense? So far you have already learned four of them! How about adding a new one to our list? The verb 'fazer', which can be considered equivalent to 'do' and 'make'.
After today's class you will be able to
- conjugate the verb '(to) do' and '(to) make' - 'fazer' in the present tense
- use 'fazer' in a wide range of different contexts
- sound more casual - the tip of the day

Faz " is an extremely useful word, thank you for providing this information. one thing that I don not understand is when you gave the example of using: " fazer.... " then duration. would you use this as a greeting ? or an expression ? can you give an example of the equivalent in English ? Obrigardo !!

Ola! Tudo bem? *Fazer* is definitely a power verb in Portuguese. As you noticed, *fazer* is also used when talking about duration. It would be equivalent to *It has been...* Ex. It has been 2 weeks that I started learning Portuguese. *Faz* duas semanas que comecei a estudar português. We also use *faz* when *for* is used in English to talk about duration. Ex. I've been studying Portuguese for two weeks. Estudo português *faz* duas semanas. *Faz* duas semanas que estudo português. Your example: "Água faz bem pra saúde." But I have seen: "O sol faz mal á pele." Are both prepositions correct?

Hi! Could you also say "aqua e bem pra saude"? or "aqua e bem" , "muito cafe não e bem" ? or is "e" representing "estar" and "faz" is representing "ser"? I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance!

Olá! Let me show you some options. 1. Água é bom para a saúde = Água faz bem para a saúde. 2. Muito café não é bom para a saúde = Muito café não faz bem para a saúde. 3. Dormir oito horas é bom para a saúde = Dormir oito horas faz bem para a saúde. In these examples, 'é' is the conjugation of 'ser' (to be) and 'faz' is the conjugation of 'fazer' (to do/make)

I have not understood fazer. For example if "I will turn 37 year tommorow" what fazer is used for fazer is to do and to make. If possible please explain

Olá! In fact, there isn't a reasonable explanation for that. While in English we say 'I will turn 37 tomorrow', in Portugese we use 'fazer' - 'Vou fazer 37 anos amanhã.' 'Fazer' has some uses in Portuguese that differ from 'make' and 'do' in English.

I don’t understand how ‘Fazer’ fits in other context for instance how you use faz in the sentence “água faz bem” and not “água é bem.” What does fazer have to do with being?

when saying "Muito café não faz bem" which translates to too much coffee is not good/ why not use (Muito café não faz bom)

When something is or isn't good for our health, in Portuguese we can use the verb 'fazer' followed by an adverb. 'Água faz bem à saúde' 'Fazer exercícios faz bem (à saúde)' 'Muito café não faz bem (à saúde)' 'Muito café faz mal (à saúde)
