How to connect 1 watt led with 12vdc adapter using carbon film resistor. LED requires 3.5 volts and 350mA or 0.35 Amp to work.

For 12V power supply: - Connect 4 LED in series, so each LED will only receive 3V. It can have ~60-70% of max luminace but with less heating. - To get higher luminance, connect 3 LEDs in series with 10Ω resistor, it is 20% brighter than 4 led in series, but the resistor will draw almost 400mW of waste heat, and the LEDs will have shorter lifespan.

The idea is good . However the resistor must be of 4 or 5 Watt to work properly. Because : P=I x I x R.

u need a resister to make it work properly. If u dont have one then I must say you should search for the old electronic boards and take it from it.

I connect 4 1watt led in series on 12v battery. It will glow as super Brite and then it's burn . Please tell me which resistance should be used. And I didn't put heat sink also....

For max brightness u definitely need a heatsink but if you use a resistor the brightness will be a little low but u won't need heatsink

I run 18650 battery 3.7v to 1k resistor to 1w led the battery lasts 55 days 24 hrs non stop, good night in really dark place its only give off 0.013w

Hola, no necesitas una resistencia para obtener su brillo máximo, pero necesitarás un disipador de calor. O puede usar una resistencia de 10 ohmios.

i used carbon resistors same with 10 ohms i use 3 pcs and add 1 pc still the 1w led get weaker and the resistor is too hot. should i use metal film resistor?

you need 30 ohm resister not 10 if your using 12v dc as a power source.

for your information i used metal film resister because it was available that time. Metal oxide film resistors operate in a wide range of resistors and can withstand a higher temperature than the resistors of the carbon film. Noise Design In contrast to carbon film resistors, metal oxide film resistors has a low noise design. They keep the minimum current. Therefore, it ensures less noise.

@@Metalinfo_ i use 12v 1amp adaptor and i use 3 pcs 10ohms resistor. I did what you did on video but to me it gets hotter and i smell the resistor is that normal? Then after few hours i saw the Led gets weaker light.

@@dumjakesy4718 use 30 ohm metal oxide resister would be good. If ull use it then u will not need to use the heat sink but the brightness will be moderate I mean not very bright

@@Metalinfo_ VS-voltage source 4.2volt.. and VR-voltage required 3.5volt and the amp was 0.35.. with calculated method u made. 4.2-3.5 / 0.35 ive got 2ohm..

@@azmcgarrettofficial6394 I think your calculation is incorrect. It is supposed to be (12V-3.5V)/.35A You should subtract what's inside the parenthesis first before you divide it. 12V-3.5V = 8.5V 8.5V divided by 0.35Amp is 24.28 Ohms....

You are absolutely right, it needs 1 watt resistor 3,2v x 0,3A = 1 watt - Хто дивиться це відео: коротше для підключення 1ватного світлодіода треба обмежуючий резистор на 1ватт, а його супротив треба розраховути за формулою: (Струм, який на вході мінус 3,2в)/0,3а Наприклад, для джерела напруги 4,2 вольта треба резистор на 3 оМ

Not really because it not using its peak power. Resister makes is to work normal with average light, if you want max brightness then yes you need a piece of metal to dissipate heat

@@Metalinfo_ 300 mA is maximum it can suport, even thow it will have a short life. It is better at maximum 150 mAmp

Yeah for max brightness you will need a heat sink, but for normal brightness it won't get hot

And how i control its heat.. I used a light nd directly connect to mble charger its glow just for 10 to 20 second after all its dead so that's why i m watching video

False , you have a 12v dc - 3.5v down in led , 8.5v rest voltage over 30 ohm is about 245 mA flow currency , means resistor must be a min. 10 wats to disapear voltage . Ohm law . Dont be stupid

I've been checking various web sites to make sure what watt resistor is suppose to go with 12v source to the 1 watt led and according to the info the resistor can be 1/2 watt or 1 watt 84 ohm resistor.

@@sergioramses2615 tolat wrong , in theory and ohm law . But not in practice . Resistor will be burn .
