Thanks for your clear and straightforward videos! Could you tell me how subtle or strong the desired analog warmth/saturation is when you send multiple stems through the Tegeler summing mixer, for example compared to sending your mix through the VTC tube comp on your mixbus, as you mentioned in another video? Many Thanks!
@2probeats3 жыл бұрын
It`s subtle and it has to do more with separation in the mix rather than saturation when you don`t hit it hard. you can saturate it but the tubes don`t like low end that much so you`re sacrificing

Hi mate I’ve just purchased my first OTB summing chain. I am coming out using an audient ID 44, Adat into ferrofish pulse 16 converter then Into the mixdream and then back into the ID 44 line 1 and 2. I’m fully aware that compared to some other analog summing chains this might be a more budget setup. I’m fine with that. I’ve got everything hooked up and I’m coming out of studio one (kick and sub (mono), Vocals, Keys etc and coming back into an audio input. What I have noticed though Is that the summed / printed audio at a individual group and overall mix level is coming in at around 5DB lower in volume. When I’m increasing the clip gain on the printed audio to be in line with the Non summed audio It does sound better more spacial etc. What I am trying to figure out is where in the signal path am I losing the 5 dB of volume. At first I thought it might be something to do with the gain level on the ID 44 of line one and two. But those are at zero as I think it should be. So I am scratching my head a little bit on this one. Also the variable output button on the Mix Dream is not active. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
@2probeats2 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I believe it has to do with the settings you have on the Ferrofish. The unit can take different levels on the input and you can change those. Please take a look at the manual, you might find it there. Cheers

How to connect summing mixer with rme fireface ufx plus?
@2probeats2 жыл бұрын
depending on how many stems you want to send out you will need DA convertors
@divinesound3582 жыл бұрын
I have question for you. I would like to buy RME Midiface and Ferrofish Pulse 16. By now, I have only one-channel UA Solo 610 preamp. If I want to record stereo, or my guitar processor, or external Ventris reverb...do I need more separate preamps for that? Behringer ADA 8200 8 channel pre maybee? Could you compare this Ferrofish sound with RME Fireface ( which would be also good option for me)
@2probeats2 жыл бұрын
For line levels you can use the ferrofish directly but if you want microphones you need preamps
@ChestermereTimes2 жыл бұрын
Respect for all the work you have put into this channel! Talking about this particular setup I would like to clarify a few things as I’m not fully versed into connecting external hardware. As far as your equipment goes in your example it is my understanding that Arturia goes into Ferrofish via ADAT which means we’re dealing with a Digital signal only where no degradation occurs between the two at this stage. Under your circumstances it seems to me that Ferrofish is the first converter in the chain that is going to impact the signal moving forward to the summing box. The DA conversion at this point is only as good as the quality of the Ferrofish - is that right? Once going out from the summing mix back into the Arturia another level of conversion occurs at a AD stage where again the quality of the ingested signal is as good as the conversion of the Arturia converter can be- is that right? I’m asking these questions as I am at the point where I have to decide how I can expand my input and output capability in my studio under the circumstances where I only have a Lynx Hilo. I was considering getting a Ferrofish 16 pulse but I’m afraid that the quality is going to be brought down during DA coming out of the Ferrofish. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@flipnap21122 жыл бұрын
that sounds correct. the interface is just passing the digital signal with no D>A conversion until it hits the ferrofish.
@2probeats2 жыл бұрын
The Ferrofish is probably the best option if you are on a budget. Yes, when connected via digital the Pulse 16 handles the conversion and not the interface. That means you can use the convertor both for DA and for AD
