The typical IP camera system includes IP cameras, a Network Video Recorder, or PC computer. In this video, you will see how we can set up an IP camera without involving a network video recorder. You still can use the PoE injector to supply power over an Ethernet cable. The micro SD card is the cost-effective solution after you remove the network video recorder from the system. It is the simplest standard surveillance system.

Thanks for very clear and informative video 😊 On 2:51 you show how to connect your phone to the camera that is on the same router like phone. But is it possible to connect to camera and watch the video while you are in a completely different location (in the case of same combination - only using camera and router with no pc or nvr)

It is the iCSee app, but the app is property app that only works with specific ip camera. Different ip cameras could have different software. You should get the software for your supplier. Usually the mobile app is free.

Can we plug directly to Wi-Fi router by using power supply through adapter and use WITHOUT POE? Or POE is compulsory?
@Fastcabling

Yes, since the IP camera shown in the video supports both PoE and DC power. You can directly connect it to the router through the RJ45 Ethernet port and power it using an external DC adapter.

@Fastcabling
@Fastcabling Жыл бұрын
I think the most cost effective solution is the NVR especially you have mass IP cameras in the system. You do know you can connect two NVR into network. One working as primary recording, another working as redundant recording. Otherwise you can use the microSD card on board recording.

wouldn't it be adequate to supply power only and just use wifi to check the sd recorded footage? if I need quality I can put the sd card into a pc
@Fastcabling
@Fastcabling 3 ай бұрын
Certainly. But ensure that your Wi-Fi network has sufficient coverage and bandwidth at the camera's location. Wi-Fi can be subject to interference and may not be as reliable as a wired connection, potentially affecting your ability to access the footage.

Okay so if don't want to use POE and just go wifi will i need to input a ip address into the phone app ? and which phone app are u using again ?
@Fastcabling
@Fastcabling 9 ай бұрын
That won't be necessary. Pairing a camera to an app usually happens by scanning a generated QR code with the camera's lens, or by connecting to it as a wireless network on the phone. In this video, we're using the iCSee app. Some manufacturers offer end-to-end solutions, where their cameras, NVRs/DVRs, VMS software and apps are designed to work seamlessly together. It's essential to research and verify compatibility based on your specific equipment.

If the camera has Ethernet port, you can hook up the cable to router or switch. Technically the camera is a computer. It has IP address, and you can connect it to any network. As long as the ip address, gateway address and DNS setting is correct, it will be online.

I purchase xmeyer camera for outdoors. My electrician has set them up outdoors. They came with a NVR wireless is it possible for me to connect the nvr to my router and connect with wifi cameras (4)? do they all have to have the same ip addresses ( I'm thinking yes). How would a vpn cause problems for the camera. If you could respond soon I'm appreciated. I suppose what you possess is the wireless NVR bundle. The NVR only work with dedicated ip camera. Each camera has unique ip address, actually it has different subnet. You can’t access the cameras directly through ip address. All the video required must go through the NVR.

since you help before I'm hoping you can help again. my NVR is connected to my router (but it won't connect with my WIFI code. I have install 4 xmeye cameras. Unfortunately, one of the four cameras has not loaded ( initially it was the first to load and suddenly died. When connecting the NVR, all cameras were given a code but camera 3 states unused. meaning? I've checked all installation and nothings seems wrong. Any ideas you may share is appreciated. When on KZfaq, I'm no seeing people using their router to connect the NVR. But I do have 3 camera working but the one that isn't, is the most important. Hope I'm clear about my issue. PS someone said to create an ip address for the camera but I have a vpn. Also is a guide for Xmeye Pro?
@Fastcabling
@Fastcabling Жыл бұрын
I think you will need to verify that camera is still working properly. You can power up the camera and listen very closely. The camera suppose to make two small clicks sounds during the boot-up. If you still can hear the click sounds, then the camera boots up successfully. Otherwise the camera is defective. Then you can attach the camera to your router and use XMEye to discover the camera in the same network. The ip camera works standalone. It never needs the NVR to keep it running. The XMEye will discover your ip camera and show it in the list even the ip address is incorrect. You can’t access the camera if the ip subnet is incorrect, but you should see the information of that camera.

Thank you for your response. These are my last statements. I'm aware of the clicks so thank you. All four cameras have been install outdoors in 4 different places. 3/4 cameras loaded and video. The 4th cameras starts loading but can't seem to produce images of its locations. Initially none of the camera load, so I plugged the NVR into my router. Immediately my phone showed 4cameras and I assumed ip addresses. Cameras are showing images except one and this is issue. Since the 4th camera is trying to load, it's active but not videoing an image. These cameras are xmeye. The cameras is label WIFI. Tried to connect cameras using my WIFI, no luck. The 4th camera loads so it is not defective . 2 installations in the attic monitor left side of house(2cameras) two installation right side (courtyard and carport is the issue) in outside room away from the main house where the router is located. If any advise you can share will be appreciate. My electrician installed the cameras. Have a placed day and thanks.

If your camera support P2P connection which has the cloud server will assist the VMS software to make the connection. You just need the cloud ID to access the camera from another location. Otherwise, you might go for the old way, you can port forwarding the camera's TCP port on your router, I assume you have a public accessible IP address.

is it possible to use NAS or Server as recorder?
@Fastcabling
@Fastcabling 7 ай бұрын
Yes, this setup can provide centralized storage and management of video footage from multiple cameras on the network. However, it is important to ensure that the NAS or server has enough storage capacity and processing power to handle the amount of video being recorded. Additionally, proper network bandwidth and security measures should be in place to ensure reliable and secure transmission of video data.

Some routers come with USB ports and support for USB storage devices, allowing you to share files across the network or use the connected storage for various applications, including as a simple Network Attached Storage (NAS) system. While technically feasible, this setup might not be as straightforward or reliable as using a dedicated NVR or DVR designed for handling video surveillance data. These devices are optimized for video storage, offering features like easy camera management, motion detection recording, scheduled recording, and more.
