I spend years trying to get my sounds bar to work via HMDI just for sound while another HDMI to my sky box. This helped me get it working as I didn;t have the CEC/Arc turned on in my TV

Are there HDMI hubs that support arc since I do not use a TV but a ultra wide monitor as my main screen.

Thanks a lot! Very helpful video! with the digital audio output setting as Dolby output, the soundbar didn't work but was making noises. After I changed the type of digital audio output (under the sound setting on my TV ) from Dolby to PCM, the soundbar works with the HDMI cable connection.

So what's the HDMI Out option which some soundbars have? Am hoping it's to connect a Roku Ultra or 4K Fire Stick, as my TV has only two HDMI inputs & one is for ARC. It would be great if that output works with ARC to return to the TV, if not, don't know what it's for. Unless possibly stereo receiver, however many would want better sound than what many of the bars offers. Especially those under the $200 range.

Hi I had a question. Trying to connect using the ARC using a Sharp TV and Yamaha Soundbar ATS 1080. As in background I feed in to the soundbar (previously to the tV) using my Roku and a HDMI. However once I use this configuration the picture quality only works at 720 P as opposed to 1080 when the Roku feeds into the TV directly. Is this a HDMI cable issue or is there another fix. Thanks for any insight around this.

You need ARC if using a DVD/BLUERAY Player to go thru the TV to Soundbar due to perhaps Optical Cable does not allow this??? I'd like to know thanks... I see you mention it allows SURROUND Thu-put but it allows Stereo from other devices to pass thru?

Hey got a question I got a 5.1ch soundbar and it's hooked up by HDMI ARC and I was wondering if I could hook up another soundbar using a HDMI splitter so I can plug it in the HDMI ARC spot and then plug both the soundbars in the 2 HDMI inputs on the splitter cable. Would this work?

Exactly what we need. We are connecting a SoundTouch 300 sound bar to a Samsung 65 inch class CU7000 UHD. Something that we've never done before, so we hope that this will be the exact information we need. 😅

you can use the standard HDMI cable for this ARC right? or is there a special HDMI ARC cable? my HDMI cable isn't working for my TV and home theater that support HDMI ARC. hmmm

So where does the video signal enter the system from? does it need to go to a different HDMI input on the TV? does the Soundbar have the HDMI input port? Does using ARC "use up" 2 of your HDMI ports on the tv?

Thanks for making this video. I am installing a Vizio 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar to a Vizio 4k TV. The only component I have that uses Atmos is a Xbox one X. I have a question that im trying to find and that is when using HDMI (arc) input 1 on the TV, will input 2 and 3 still send audio out of input 1 to my soundbar? The Xbox one X must go through the soundbar using it as a patch to the TV if I understand correctly. I'm just worried about sound when input 2 (playstation) and input 3 (cable TV) are in use. Question: I just received a Yamaha soundbar and a SHU sub... I tried hooking it up to my bedroom TV (Sony A9S Oled 48"), The light's are on on the Sub, I have the sub connected to the Soundbar but there's no sound from the sub. The soundbar plays but not the sub. Suggestions? Thank you Joe

Thanks man good video just subbed to the channel ; ) , 2 quick questions : I just bought a LG OLED BX (have not received it yet) and I am trying to see if my older Toshiba Sound Bar would work for this set up. I have a SBX4250kn from Toshiba (@t ), its a simple sound bar that does the trick for the living room we like the sound of it and I don't have other purpose in the house for. it.. but I know 4K was not around then, 2013 timeframe. It has ARC and CEC on the remote of the sound bar. Always wandered what these do has our current TV is a cheap ass 55 in 1080p RCA tv from 2014... So now that we have upgraded the TV I am lacking Tech TV knowledge .... Lets say I use the LG OLED has AV system to do audio pass thru to the sound bar. I will set up ARC on the LG TV and put ARC ON on the soundbar along with CEC.. Also I want to mention that I just purchased an Xbox series X to go along with the Cable TV box. these are the only 2 HDMI ports being used and would like the best quality on the xbox. Question 1. I have seen in the difference from CX to BX that it only has 2x 2.1 HDMI port on the BX model vice 4x on the CX, i didnt think much of it and wanted to save a few 100$ on the tv ; because I only use that TV in the living room. The best set up would be to use the last HDMI 2.1 spot for the Xbox Series X. (because the other HDMI 2.1 is being used for ARC with sound bar..) would it mater if the Cable TV box be in a none HDMI 2.1 port. Would the audio passthru to the sound still work ? Question 2. Knowing that my soundbar dosent have ATOMOS , eARC all theses premium add on, is it worth the extra money to upgrade the sound bar ? Hope i dont sound too lost and confuse here lol. Thanks, Marc,

The confusion I always have with ARC is not how it got connected. For example on the TV HDMI1 is ARC, HDMI2 (connected to Apple TV 4K), and HDMI3 (connected to a PS4). If I connect HDMI1 (ARC) to the soundbar, will the soundbar work if I switch to HDMI2 or HDMI3 when I want to use the other devices?

Hello. I have an Onkyo 636 audio receiver with ARC. I also have an LG TV that supports ARC. I've connected everything properly and setup up all software options to the proper settings. Still TV is not recognizing the Onkyo or any other devices plugged into the Onkyo. I tried another TV with ARC (Vizio) and still no go. Is it possible that my HDMI cable doesn't support ARC? Is there a special HDMI cable I need? The cable functions properly transmitting video and audio from source to Onkyo and source to TV, but for the life of me I can't get ARC to work. Hopefully it's a cable? If not, maybe the ARC functionality of the Onkyo is toast? Any feedback you could give would be great.

I’ve got Samsung TV and has hdmi 2 for arc and I presume you just run a hdmi lead from the soundbar to that port and then a PS4 that is in hdmi 1 or say firestick in hdmi 3 will run the picture on those ports and use hdmi 2 for audio? Sorry usually I use digital co axial of optical and this is new to me.

I did my SAMSUNG 6500 into 8000 TV and it does not need to be the TV-ARC slot. Any of them do work with the TV remote. What ARC is needed is OUT of the Soundbar. A Optical Cablecis also needed for mine as it always switches ON to the D.IN but now it all w orks with both used. I had got it working with the TV-ARC firstly but it works using the one that isn't also. I will try next time to use Add Speaker for ARC if it does not need the Optical also but i had tried allsorts prior the combined method.

My TV doesn't have HDMI arc but my Soundbar has HDMI ARC port. There is only one HDMI port on my soundbar. Can i use an HDMI splitter to send one signal to my TV and One to my Soundbar? So video plays on tv and sound plays on sound bar
