The more I watch your videos the more I realise that I don't know almost anything about mixers or mixing. I've watched 3 of your videos in a row and I feel my head almost exploding. They are really helpful considering that I have a Behringer XENYX X2442USB. I have to rewatch at least 2 videos couple of times more to get some more info. Thanks a lot for your videos. God bless you! ✌️

Holy cow! I watched this video for help with setting up my church livestream audio, but wound up getting an answer to an issue I have had at work with voiceover recordings for videos I have been doing using a mic to my PC. I have been using an interface and a very Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface and pretty decent mic and was so annoyed because I could not understand why I was getting a mono track. What you said about the single XLR input being interpreted as a mono signal makes all the sense in the world! None of the other videos or troubleshooting guides have ever mentioned this! I found a workaround in Premiere Pro for my videos where it duplicates the audio track to create stereo, but always thought I was doing something wrong. Thank you so much for explaining this and for potentially saving our livestream audience from a mono listening experience!

I have an American Audio Audio Genii II as a pc interface. No ground loops. You can throw RCA-1/4 female adapters and use them. Good advice on the converter cable for using a balanced Aux output....which will allow one to set an independent mix for stream.

I am shortly intending setting up an online radio station, I have a 1204 usb mixer & it would be helpful to compare what I have done as opposed to what you would do with regards to cabling. I am using 1 imac as music library etc, 1 imac 21.5 for streaming using the usb out . 2 x mini disc players, 1 to drop in jingles, drops , beds ctc 2nd to record output such as news/ weather for later re broadcast & record phone calls, I plan to hook up the phone to the board. I have 1 swing arm balanced mic & a second mic for guest use. I have a 3rd imac to monitor internet etc not connected to board. I only found you today & really like your presentation & thanks for not opening with "HEY...WHATS UP GUYS?" so totally shitty...I would have switched off at that point. Radio Waves83 south tof France.

Hi David, I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. In general the setup looks good, especially if the workflow is easy for you to manage. Mini Disc is a neat choice and its much easier to find decks in Europe. (it never really took off in the US although I have owned a Sony one in the past.) Glad you found the content helpful and I hope you are enjoying your online radio adventure.

I felt grateful that I found this video. :) Just a question, the LTIGLBLOX can be used in the reversed direction? As mono balanced output from mixer, through the LTIGBLOX then unbalanced stereo to the laptop PC?

Correct. I use it all the time to feed aux output mono balanced to ATEM Mini stereo unbalanced audio inputs. 😁

Thank you!!! Great video!!! I have a quick question... I currently use the Behringer Xenyx QX1202usb but when I got to the sound card M-Audio M-Track 2x2 (C-series) the voice changes pitch in my live on streamyard... any idea how to fix that??? If I use the Mtrack alone doesn't happen but I want to add instruments and more mics that is why I use the mixer... when I use the mixer usb alone, I can't hear the invite on our stream not sure why... help please!!!
@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 10 ай бұрын
Wow, that's an interesting problem. I've never seen this issue with any USB connection but I also have not used Streamyard. With the Mixer, you might need to set up a mix minus for the stream without the USB return and make sure your USB return is only in your headphones.

Thanks for the video. I have a mg24/14fx mixer board at church, however within the last few weeks, I have been getting a distorted sound coming from the Aux sends. I used aux1 to send the signal to the online stream and aux2 for the on stage monitors. but when I am listening online it sounds very choppy. Speech is fine, but as soon as someone starts singing or and instrument starts playing the sound gets distorted. How can I fix that? I'm using a balance 1/4 jack to 3.5mm
@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 Жыл бұрын
I suspect that your streaming platform is using some type of noise cancelation that does not play well with music. The reason I suspect this that your speech is fine. You may be able to turn this off depending your streaming platform.

Hi there. I was wondering if you think a passive DI box would work the same as the LTIGLBlox for bringing sound from and analog soundboard to a laptop, or would I blow up something accidentally if I did this?
@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 Жыл бұрын
You will probably get a signal but it will only be left or right mono, because it will not sum the stereo channels together. Some stereo direct boxes use two outputs instead of summing left and right together, so it uses two channels on your mixer. The LTIGLBOX sums left and right together so you don't lose any part of your signal.

Hello!! I have a question for you and have not found an answer online as of yet. Is it best to use a graphic EQ to ring out the room first before EQing your microphone? 2nd Question what tips would you give to eq a room with a basic sound system?
@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 3 жыл бұрын
1. Yes you would want to start by tuning your room first. For installed systems, I'm assuming that this will be already done. 2. This can be a complex process based entirely on your room. To be done well, proper software should be used to measure the room tune the system. The short answer is find frequencies that feed back readily and cut them with the graphic eq.

I have a Behringer USB mixer with efx like the one you're showing here. I was wanting to connect it to the PC so I could use more plugins and then go back out to my Android phone to do Tictok live singing and playing guitar. If that possible?
@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I've never tried that, but it seems possible in theory. You could use Gig Performer 4 to run live plugins, select your mixer as the input device, your soundcard as the output device and use the IK Multimedia iRig Stream to capture the audio for the stream? After all that I'm not sure you would have proper Audio/Video sync. Good luck!

Hi Bill. I'm not really a big recording guy, so unfortunately I might be the wrong guy to ask. I know a lot of guys use a hybrid digital/analog workflow and really like it. I would check out Dan Baker's videos kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN1jYNCg0N6oips.html & kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hLF2a5qLx5PLcac.html I did find the manual for your console which should help with the wiring I think. www.manualslib.com/manual/360366/Mackie-Sr40-8.html

Is the mic input on your ATEM Mini Extreme set to Line In instead of Mic? Also, I would check to make sure that your cable is really stereo to stereo and make sure you haven't panned any channels all the way left or right.

I'm confused about which cables to use in with the interface (9:11) . Can I use two XLRs from Main Output of mixer to the interface for dual mono? or is it better to try for One XLR and use the Y method into interface? Should I stay away from 1/4 inch completely for this? I have the X1832 going into Scarlet 2i2 if that matters at all.
@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 2 жыл бұрын
Using two XLR cable from the main outputs into the 2i2 is a easy solution and will work fine. If you want to use the 1/4 main outputs, then a 1/4 TRS to XLR cable will be the best connection since it is balanced. Happy Streaming!
@jonwilsonlee6544
@jonwilsonlee6544 2 жыл бұрын
@@proclaimav4197 thanks for the reply! so if i use 1/4 method i'd use 2 for the full mono send, right? and is XLR better quality than 1/4 inch for this or is it generally the same? i have both options I'm just trying to figure out if there's higher quality signal one way or another
@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 2 жыл бұрын
1/4 TRS is also a balanced connection meaning that the quality is the same if you use 1/4 TRS to XLR or XLR to XLR. IF the 1/4 is only TS then you won't be balanced and there is more opportunity for noise. However, for short enough runs you might be ok with an unbalanced 1/4 TS to 1/4 TS. For more cable info check out my video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nsqPkriIydXbpJs.html

Is there a way to connect your audio mixer via ethernet to an atem mini, thereby bypassing the quality and delay problems?
@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 2 жыл бұрын
Not that I am aware of. I think the analog connection is an attempt to make sure that audio / video synchronization is as close as possible. Most streaming services Facebook, KZfaq, Zoom, ect. will let you use the ATEM Mini USB for video and a separate audio device (USB for example) for audio.

@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 7 ай бұрын
Yes. Unfortunately most small analog mixers won't let you choose anything other than the main outputs for the built in USB interface. You can use the LTIGLBLOX shown in the video if you are just using the computer soundcard Line In connection. You could also use a USB interface. Hope that helps!

This mixer does has separate outs for each channel, but you will need a multi channel capture device and you will have to patch each output to that device as it only has a stereo output on the USB connection.

I'm sorry I'm not getting this. First of all you keep talking about Audio Only and never bring any video in. I certainly would be having my microphone which would be on amount going to the input of my mixer and then the main coming out going into an audio interface set for line and then the output at Mike with a 1/8 inch going into my camera and then from an HDMI out of a camera into the cam link and then to the USB port of my computer. Now if I have software that's bringing in other people on cameras that are remote it does not appear to me that that sound would go into the OBS particularly usefully so it seemed to me that you would use a 1/8 in coming out of the laptop going into two parts in the mixer using XLR one to be the Left Channel and wanted to be the right channel since the 1/8 will come and as an XLR pigtail. Any audio coming out of the computer would then go into the mixer and again come out into the camera so I would presume all of the audio would now be together along with the video. OBS of course does allow you to grab a window capture to capture the video which you can then live stream along with your own obs camera video. Am I missing something?
@proclaimav4197
@proclaimav4197 4 ай бұрын
Hi Sam. The reason I don't bring video into this is that not everyone is using OBS people are using all kinds of video capture options. Also this video is aimed at people who already have a live sound system and are just trying to get audio from their house system into video streaming. In that case their mains are going to speaker systems and they need to find a way to route alternative outputs to their live streaming gear. Hope that clears it up for you.
