At some point they were supposed to be able to do that but they never developed that feature. However, the Big Brother UI 24R will do that. I have mixed on a friend's 24 R using a touchscreen monitor hooked up the HDMI and USB ports.

Unfortunately, this board isn't wired to do that. You might be about to find a work around by routing FX to the Subgroups and patching a subgroup output back to a board input. Just don't create a loop. 😛

• Thank you, Tim, another excellent video from you. Bluetooth devices usually provide a maximum operating range of about 10 meters, or 33 feet. What do you recommend in a wireless transmitter / receiver system that would work, with quality, at about 100 meters? THANK YOU in advance!
@proclaimav4197Ай бұрын
A 100 meter XLR cable. 😛 In the case of Bluetooth, I don't. Bluetooth range is generally limited by the transmit and receive of the streaming device. Also, in my opinion, wireless and reliable don't belong in the same sentence. 😉

Holy cow! I watched this video for help with setting up my church livestream audio, but wound up getting an answer to an issue I have had at work with voiceover recordings for videos I have been doing using a mic to my PC. I have been using an interface and a very Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface and pretty decent mic and was so annoyed because I could not understand why I was getting a mono track. What you said about the single XLR input being interpreted as a mono signal makes all the sense in the world! None of the other videos or troubleshooting guides have ever mentioned this! I found a workaround in Premiere Pro for my videos where it duplicates the audio track to create stereo, but always thought I was doing something wrong. Thank you so much for explaining this and for potentially saving our livestream audience from a mono listening experience!

Hi Tim! Thanks for your videos, are useful and extremely well done. I've just watched your analog mixer tutorial and this review. Which mixer do you suggest for a church? The Mackie ProFX16v3 or the Behringer Xenyx QX2442? I was thinking the behringer (for the price too, honestly). Plus, I have a silly question: even if i don't buy the Behringer ULM202USB the first 2 channels of the QX2442 could be used as normale channels, right? Thanks in advance, you're great. Ah, I saw you answering this in the comments! Apparently there is a compressor and EQ you can use on each aux mix, I could just set the compressor to infinite ratio and use it as a limiter. Thank you again for a thorough video! 😊

I have a problem with the same mixer, i.e. the vu meter shows no signs of life when I start a signal from any channel, for example, to start music I use a cable that enters the mixer in the stereo channels with 2 jacks and an aux on the phone, clicking main and raising both faders "main and the channel fader" the vu meter shows no signs, I don't know where to turn

@@proclaimav4197 I have checked over and over again and there are no more clicked buttons, I will try to check again, but I don't think this is the problem. @proclaimav41972 ай бұрын
I like the Senneheiser e835 personally.
@samadams64873 ай бұрын
I'm sorry I'm not getting this. First of all you keep talking about Audio Only and never bring any video in. I certainly would be having my microphone which would be on amount going to the input of my mixer and then the main coming out going into an audio interface set for line and then the output at Mike with a 1/8 inch going into my camera and then from an HDMI out of a camera into the cam link and then to the USB port of my computer. Now if I have software that's bringing in other people on cameras that are remote it does not appear to me that that sound would go into the OBS particularly usefully so it seemed to me that you would use a 1/8 in coming out of the laptop going into two parts in the mixer using XLR one to be the Left Channel and wanted to be the right channel since the 1/8 will come and as an XLR pigtail. Any audio coming out of the computer would then go into the mixer and again come out into the camera so I would presume all of the audio would now be together along with the video. OBS of course does allow you to grab a window capture to capture the video which you can then live stream along with your own obs camera video. Am I missing something?
@proclaimav41973 ай бұрын
Hi Sam. The reason I don't bring video into this is that not everyone is using OBS people are using all kinds of video capture options. Also this video is aimed at people who already have a live sound system and are just trying to get audio from their house system into video streaming. In that case their mains are going to speaker systems and they need to find a way to route alternative outputs to their live streaming gear. Hope that clears it up for you.

Does this mixer have the ability to do ducking(side channel)? I see the Ui24R can by using Subgroups but cant find anything on if the Ui12 or Ui16 can do it.
@proclaimav41973 ай бұрын
No it does not. The ui16 is an older generation mixer that Soundcraft acquired from another company. The UI-24r is the more recent mixer with many more options. If you want to do things like sidechain and multi track recording, the UI-24r is a better choice.

If sending vocals to a subgroup, and i require effects on the vocals, does it matter whether the effects are sent to the main or should they also be sent to the subgroup also. Can this affect how the effects are placed in the audio chain. Hope this makes sense.

I'm looking for some advice on choosing a microphone for podcast recording. I currently have a Vocaster, and I'm looking to buy a microphone that is suitable for podcasting. I would like to ask which of the following three microphones is the best: Rode M1, Shure SM58, or Sennheiser e835? Or are there any other recommendations in a similar price range? Thanks. By the way, I am a male, but my voice is not deep. I will be using the microphone only for speaking words, looking for a microphone that has a clear and natural sound suits my Vocaster.
@proclaimav41974 ай бұрын
I really like e835 for the more natural sound. It has better high frequency reponse than the other two which makes it sound more clear IMO. You will get a warmer sound from the SM58 and M1 because they have a more pronounced proximity effect if you get close to them.

Greetings Tim. I have been singing through SM58s, in live bands since the late 70's. Today I found three Sennheiser E835s, unused, in the original packaging. They were donated to a local thrift shop. Maybe in a future video go over how to handle connecting balanced and single ended gear. Most people don't know that the 2 modes of operation are not compatible and steps need to be taken to make both ends of the connection either one or the other. If you don't know what you are doing, you can also damage your equipment. Although, its not as serious as phantom power. What's worst is the marketing tricks some companies play to make you think you have a balanced connection when you don't.
