Yes, that is a common problem. All you can do is keep trying to get people to understand how important it is for them to respect your wishes and ignore your dog until you tell them it's ok. don't give up!

This is so true. Harder to train people than dogs. Especially dog lovers, who come in with the high pitched greetings to the pup. They're the toughest! Lol.

Hi Jo I’m so glad that you got some benefit from my videos. Well you are correct I rarely ever use treats. But Jo, that’s because the few of us who who believe I this way of working with dogs and their owners, and we also , if I’m honest Jo believe it is the correct way , do not use treats often and believe it’s the right way because it’s not our way Jo. It’s the way of the dog. The way I train is so effective and makes sense to me because I’m just communicating with dogs the WSU they communicate with each other, in their language using psychology of the dog not of the human. It’s the only way that makes sense to me after years of studying and. Working with dogs so Jo, your problems will be resolved only when you affect the brain in a manner that calms it permanently. And that’s done by learning how to become a pack leader for your dog, with gives you your dog’s trust and respect. And makes you now represent a protector yo your dog as well S a loving friend. If your dog believed he is loved and also protected and safe in life, he lives life calmly instead of anxiously. And once he lived in that state of mind and gives you his respect, whatever you say can be received by his brain and calmly executed I good obedient behavior for his pack leader. That’s the key , not treats, not tricks or obedience commands, and not human emotional thinking and psychology. And of course, the most important thing to remember, you can only achieve this with calm confident energy. There’s just no way around that. Thank you Jo. And I hope this was helpful .

@@whosthebossdogtraining8705 ​I just discovered that that I need to start speak dog to actually influence my dog. Im trying to mimic the mama dog. I find it impossible to find a book or videos on how to be the packleader as the human. That is always removed. Any tips on books /videos?

Hi Victor Thank you for reaching out and for watching my videos? To answer your question, I have a video called “3 Steps To A Well Behaved Dog” that you can purchase on line. It’s about how to be a pack leader and get respect from your dog. It’s inexpensive and 20 min long. And I believe it’s easy to learn from. Also any of Cesar Millan’s books or videos of course are all about pack leadership. Also, not sure where you live, but I’m in Chicago. There is no substitute for working with me personally to become a true pack leader. But I really believe my video will be useful to you!

Thank you for your response. I did use rewards to encourage response to recall and now that he can be off the lead in a very safe environment where he can get some of his energy out, he loves it, and I'm delighted that he will respond to my whistle at once for which sometimes I give him a reward but not always. He's so busy enjoying racing about, though, that he isn't too bothered about the food! I don't object to food rewards as such, it's just that he is so focussed on it that I cannot use it in a closed environment such as indoors where he can smell it! I would like to work more on the pack leader idea but am not in the USA and I have to admit that as an older person, my patience sometimes runs out quicker than I would like and my previous dogs seemed to train much more quickly but weren't quite so hyper. However, they all know how to 'press all your buttons' and it is easy to get quickly tired and rattled. I shall watch more of your videos. Best Wishes and thanks!

@@dariona950 it's gotten a little better he still flips out when someone visits but he calms down faster now as compared to before he just never stopped. but his new thing is going bananas when I ust the leaf blower in the yard, he literally attacks it with this teeth out and ready to bit, it's scary how he transforms from a " lovable Lab" into a vicious attack dog when I pick up the leaf blower. I hope you are having better luck these days with your dog.

We are working through this with our young pit mix. It takes time but it can get better. #1 Ignore the dog when you come home, or let him out of the crate, don’t talk to him, don’t pet him, don’t even look at him for a few minutes. #2 Put a leash on the dog when people come over and stand on it so he can’t jump on visitors. Tell your visitors to ignore the dog. Only give affection when he’s calm. #3 practice impulse control with games like wait at the door until released, place and stay slowly increasing stay time and It’s Yer Choice. IMO dog language is not shushes but body language. Blocking with your body is a powerful tool as shown in this video. You can do it!

Hello Beryl I’m glad I could assist you in any way to help improve the behavior of your dog’s, mainly to keep those grand children safe! Please remember that I always stress that Trying to implement this method that made sense to you from my videos is wonderful and a great first step. But just understand that to apply these ideas and techniques effectively it takes time and practice, and you will be making mistakes that are normal and common when learning any new skill or craft. The best way to have success in modifying your dogs behavior is with an experienced professional helping you correct little mistakes as well as reinforce what you naturally are doing well to get better and better .while you are née at something you can’t give off as confident an energy ax when you have done it for some time and as you practice you will get more and more confident each day. Then your dog will fed it and begin to consistently respond. Keep going forward !

Yawning is a sign of stress in a dog. As others have mentioned, some of this approach is unnecessarily confusing/stressful for the dog because it doesn't clearly tell the dog what it should be doing. Proactively teaching the dog to go to "place" and giving them an alternative activity (bone or kong) would be a lot less stressful because it adds clarity for the dog of what we DO want them to do and then rewards them for it. A leash in this situation would also help, since having to constantly walk around and try to herd the dog over to the designated "place" is also stressful (for the dog and people). Its an awful lot for the dog to have to process while they're already over the top excited about company IMO.

Hello I appreciate your response and I’d like to understand your point. What exactly did you not like about what I did with this dog in this video? And let me get this straight? Your solution for any dog that is hyperactive around people is to leash the dog ? So everyone should have to walk around with their dog on a leash anytime they have visitors over for the rest of their lives ? I’m sorry but that just doesn’t make sense to me when , as I demonstrated in the video, a dog can be taught how to behave calmly with good manners around people , precisely so it doesn’t have to be restrained all it’s life . Hi there I have found that the majority of the negative responses I have received from my videos, which are fortunately very few, they mostly seem to be from Cesar Milan haters. That’s fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion about him or about me and who’s the boss dog training. But you mock me without posing an alternative to my approach. And you do t even specify what it is that I did that you disagree with. If you have a better or more effective method I’d love to see a video of you dealing with a hyperactive dog in a hone with a family such as this . If your video shows that you are more effective than what I demonstrate I. My video. I have no problem acknowledging that and giving you proper appreciation and credit. But as it stands now, all you have done is mocked and criticized me and even Cesar with nothing g to back it up. But I thank you for watching and always welcome your point of view

@@whosthebossdogtraining8705 okay, i have to say that i really like your calm NRG 👍🏻 about that video, did you ask how many times and how long the owners walk with their dog, it is a boxer from 9 months old, ofcourse that dog is hyperactive You talk about dog language, why make that shhhhh sound so often the hyperactive dog pays totally no attention to it sounds can trigger more hyperactivity, and why touching the dog that is not neccesary and you also chasing the dog by walkin behind him , that is no leadership in my opinion What i would try, i would try to get the dogs attention, by calling its name or even with a treat. Because when you got the full attention you can work with any dog. And then set the boundaries and rules The owner has to work on her relationship with the dog, by walking and doing things together, that is what i do even with my saarloos woldlfdog I hope you will respond to me again
