This video was very useful helping me explain this solution to a friend! The only thing I might suggest is including how to add settings to the drop down menu as they aren’t always there by default. Was very concise and informative! Thank you!

How do I set this to blast 100% fan speed from the bed layer? Initial speed 100%, regular fan speed at height 0.0, layer 1, minimum speed 100%, regular/maximum fan speed threshold 100%? I want to do this for larger prints, because the cool end keeps melting and clogging on them if I don't, and cura seems to be of the opinion that 1st layer fan should always be 0%.

Thank you so much. I don't know how, but my fan speed in Cura got droped to zero, then if I sped it up initially, the fan speed would drop after the first few layers, screwing my prints. I thought my retraction was fucked til I looked and saw the blower off.

The fact that cura doesnt have a minimum fan speed is frustrating. The pwm control of my fan doesnt really start getting it spinning until around 60%... However I still want a 0% fan speed at the initial layer. Basically I just want to jump from 0% to 60% then ramp from there...

Is there any way to get the fans to turn on at 100% at a certain layer instead of ramping up?

Hi there, I have an Ender 3 Max and for whatever reason I cannot get the cooling fans to kick on by themselves with the settings I set in Cura. The only way to turn them on is to wait for the first couple layers to finish and then set the speed manually. Any thoughts as to why this might be happening?

@@EtherealProject3D thanks for getting back to me! So I started with the creality packaged cura software, I just tried tonight to switch over to regular ultimaker cura, hoping it would help but no luck. I'll give slic3r or one of the others a try to see. Any you would recommend?

Not too bad, it took me about a week to get where I could just load up something and 3D print it without having to ask questions. The. Another few months to really understand it. Its a great hobby and I highly recommend it.

I don't the fan speed to ramp up, i want it off untill let's say layer 4 and then instantly to 100% This due to having 12v Noctua's with buck converters and the fan won't spin on 30%..... It just wiggles
@EtherealProject3D
@EtherealProject3D 2 жыл бұрын
Sadly this is not possible as I understand it in Cura, you can set the initial fan speed but it will always increase at each layer up to the max speed at height. I recommend using Idea Maker for your specific setup as it has way better control of the part cooling fan.

@@EtherealProject3D i found a solution in Marlin firmware, there is a setting that always starts the fan at 100% for a second and then slows down. A kickstart

For anyone looking. The real solution is to make sure your Enable Print Cooling box is checked and set all fan percentages to zero. Then go to Extensions > Post Processing > Modify G-Code > then under the Add A Script button select ChangeAtZ. Then you can select height or layer number by the trigger. Then check the fan speed box and make sure you have layer spread set at 1 which will make the change in 1 layer.

@@MoeReefs Not all heroes wear capes! This solved my issue with my buckconverter clicking due to the voltage slowly ramping up. Many thanks!
