Holes in the roof are just fine. We own an old Airstream and we’ve got three fans, one chimney, and two vents going in. No leaks whatsoever, in a 40 year old trailer.

Yeah, the windows take away from the stealth a little bit, but you could get window covers to hide the windows if stealth is really an issue. I actually saw the perfect stealth vehicle G4S van. They have solar panels as standard.

Probably less that the van is stealth more than the panels are stealth so they don't get robbed.

Oh my God, what a brilliant video to watch and at long bloody last, someone that gets it! It’s just a revelation to watch this video, for real, it’s as if someone had read my mind and made the ideal tiny home on a truck... ok, it might have been a motor home but it looks and I bet it feels like a proper tiny home. Seriously, if I had the money, I’ll be pestering the heck out of these brilliant guys to make my tiny home for me! I know they kept on saying about the offers and money saved getting their hands on materials, even the internal door from the cabin into the living space was for free, but it’s the professionalism of their finished work that makes them excellent workers, and seriously you guys ought to think about starting up your own business because seriously this is the first tiny homes builders outside the United States and Australia/New Zealand that can compete with their market, I mean even though they made this tiny home themselves, the finish is exquisite as if made in those huge factories. Seriously, if I had the money, I would ask for a little bigger truck for room for a full shower bathroom and extra sleeping loft, also I’ve always dreamt of having a dishwasher and you need that washing machine, whilst living that nomadic lifestyle. These guys are brilliant, the only one thing I would have changed, I’m afraid was the music! Brilliant video, excellent workmanship and I just hope and pray that these wicked guys are the British versions of tiny homes experts, come on you guys, you need to start your business and start selling tiny homes. Honestly, the amount of people in London alone who are looking for affordable homes so that they can save up for a mortgage, I reckon within six months you’ll be making millions, even for the European markets, they’ll be all over your business because outside America, Australia and New Zealand, there’s no proper and professional tiny houses builders, and you know that you have the skills and expertise to turn your beautifully made tiny home into a multimillion pounds business within a year, and the way you demonstrate your work, it’s clean and straightforward and I’m sure that there’s going to be a lot of young people who would love to have an apprenticeship with you as you make learning to do things look fun. Anyway, just putting my thoughts out, and seriously I can’t takeaway your excellent talent and workmanship from you, it’s evident in this video and the tiny home is so beautiful as well. Good luck in your travels. I ❤️ this video

Fantastic job guys. Thanks for sharing. A suggestion: installing your gas appliances you should get a registered installer to do it right. When you put a gas cilinder near an appliance with a live flame (cooker, stove) the gas cilinder should go in a cabinet open to the outside and sealed from the inner quaters. If you use propane (heavier than air) your floor level vent should catch any leak. If you used natural gas (lighter than air) the vent should be through the roof. In any case any leaked gas should be vented away from any source of sparks that may be produced under the vehicle or you'll end up with a rocket van-home.

Backyard Art ..... To add to the statement... a question , when filling the gas bottle , the "90%" valve here in the US would be opened / venting .
@BackyardArt
@BackyardArt 6 жыл бұрын
Well, as a home gas installer and not a home on wheels owner, I’m not familiar with the process of filling gas bottles in motorhomes (surely I should be, if dedicated to installing gas in homes on wheels, or an owner), or with US or Canadian regulations on the matter. To get the best answer for your question you should ask a local registered gas fitter familiar with regulations related to fitting propane in RVs and with experience in the matter, or you can ask an operator at a filling plant which is the recommended procedure when refilling a bottle.

I've got a luton pretty much the same as this van! My one is kitted up with metal frame inside, so I've insulated in-between with foil wrap over that with plywood to the metal frame struts. I've also got a roller shutter door as well, but I'm going to bulld a studwall about 2/3ft back from the shutter, enough room for sitting with a cuper lol. I like the idea of cutting the middle seat out, my idea was to put a Hatch above the drivers seat, then at a later date install a sidedoor just behind the driver side. Anyway... Great build, its given me some ideas, as I've only done two days so far lol.

That's a really nice build video! Thanks for posting. BTW that wood in the connection, epoxy is about the best way to get wood waterproof. Unlike other things that "dry" by evaporating solvents, epoxy reacts with itself and doesn't create pores. But then you need to paint over the epoxy with varnish or paint to protect it from UV.

Great job guys but shouldn't the hinges to your doors be on the inside of the door because if there on the outside someone could just screw your doors off
@TheTinyHouseOnWheels
@TheTinyHouseOnWheels 6 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your message. We did spend a long time looking for hinges and these were the most suitable for the steel frame and the way the doors opened. We did use nylon-insert lock nuts on the inside of the van, on every bolt. This means you can't undo them from the outside unless you hold a spanner on the lock nut at the other end. Without holding the nut, the bolt would just spin and not undo. So hopefully no one will be screwing off the doors!

Professional Punters locking pins would be a cheap, quick additional measure - at the hinge side, posts and matching holes that join up when you close the door. Take off the hinges completely... door still won't want to come off.

A Luton is my plan for a camper. However, any I have done in the past I never use anything other than Tiger Seal for bonding roof or wall windows or skylights. You get it in black or white and it does NOT leak! I did a van in the rain one November. The skylight my mate had installed leaked so bad I half expected to see an Ark float out the back!!! That day, it must have been zero or less degree's, but I cut off all the silicone (hate that stuff), then applied the Tiger Seal. Boom! Job done, stopped leaking immediately and was dry in a few days. I have fitted light bars on the front roof of a van, sealed the bolts with Tiger Seal and where the cable goes through. Not a drip. Love that stuff :-)

Mitcy Dupres Is the goal to reach the max loading for the vehicle? There are 2 reasons you don't put plasterboard into a vehicle, one of them is weight.

@@DiscoFangFunny, I pegged these guys drywall installers and knew it was coming somewhere. Remove the roof = leaks and that ceiling can get really nasty. It'd be a shame, if this happened.

Songs with repetitive lyrics and hypnotic Beats should definitely not underscore a long tutorial video. Outside of that amazing jobyou all did I wish I could have really focused on what you were saying about what you were doing with the build-out but that song was driving me crazy. Awesome song, but wrong format. I didn't know if should get up and dance around or what LOL

looks like a heavy load but you definitely did a very nice job putting it all together - the only thing I'd be worried about is gas mileage come touring - I think a project this size would be a good tiny house idea given the weight of the drywall, cast iron fireplace, cabinetry etc. Great Job Mate!!!!!
