Great video as usual, Camon! You give us enough information to show that we need to dig deeper into our understanding of these concepts. As a novice, in post I first get exposure right and then crank up the contrast and saturation as you mentioned. Now I'm wondering how to do this properly in final cut. I'll keep researching. Thx again!

Great question! What you're describing is HDR :) It exists, but it isn't very widely adopted yet

At the last part of the narration you told the lut can be used in other softwares, but does that give the same quality!

Thank you for the value, what do you think about using the "ACES Transform" instead of the "Color Space Transform" in Resolve?

I use ACES transforms personally, I just used color space transforms for the sake of the video because they offer more detail about what's going on. Both achieve the same thing

Aces makes sense for big budget projects where they have tons of VFX. However, it doesn't support some consumer cameras like DJI for example. DWG on the other hand supports more cameras. A color space transform is even more versatile as you can pair different Color space and gamma on clip basis.

Do logs apply to pictures as well? Or is this curve only applied to video?

It can be used for both photos or video though it's less common in photography since it's easier to shoot RAW stills than RAW video (RAW offers even more flexibility than log)
