Thank you for explaining this. I was so reluctant to add water stops as I thought they would be seen in between my tiles. Now I know the answer.

great explanation, I see some new homes dont even installed water stop on their ensuite or bathroom and it just leaks through the door jamb even to the bedroom carpet next to it.

Hi. I was looking at the AS, and it shows that the water stop has to extend 5mm ABOVE the tile level. In the video, you mention it will be flush with the tile. The only one I could see in the AS was an un enclosed shower. Is the shower in the video an un enclosed shower? Thanks for the informative video.

Howdy, in my view this water stop system is only good for fully enclosed shower screens!! Frameless and semi-frameless shower screens allow to much water out past the water stop. A second waste should be installed to the out side shower area for this system to be fully successful. It would be smarter to screed the whole bathroom floor with the correct falls to the shower waste and put your water stop at bathroom door entrance. 👍

@@casabellatv4543 thanks for that. Any tips on how to get that water stop in the right spot? I guess you measure from the wall and add your glue and tile thickness and hope for the best

hi how wide does the grout joint become where waterstops in coparisome to the 2mmm spacer used or are saying they get completely covered by shower frames cheers

Hi Brooke, You are correct the grout line will become bigger. For a open shower screen you will see the grout line above the water stop become 3mm to 3.5mm. This would be hard to pick. You can bevel the sides of the tiles to reduce the grout line. But not many people would pick 1mm or 1.5mm difference. Thanks, From the team at Casabella

Howdy, I see a problem with an open shower screen and this water stop system. Whilst having a shower the water is splashing out past your water stop. What happens to this water as it seeps beneath the tiles? The water stop is actually preventing this water from flowing down to the puddle flange.@@casabellatv4543

Question . Dont the waterstops have to be flush with finished tile hight according to as3740 ?

Hi Jamie, You are correct the water stops have to be flush with tiles in accordance with AS3740. Although some client do not like the look of the trim in the grout line. So a alternative option is to drop the trims 2mm lower than tiles and use a product called Epoxy Grout. Cement base grout is porous and Epoxy Grout is none porous so the epoxy will create a surface seal! Thanks, From the team at Casabella.

Hi adrian if you are tiling with 10mm thick tiles are you using an 8mm angle or a 10mm?? a 12mm notch trough shuold raise the tile high enough so you dont see the angle with waterproof on it?

Hi, 8mm works if we try conceal the angle with grout. Sometime we keep it exposed if the shower screen fully covers it! Thanks, Adrian

Hi Jay, you sure can use tile trim for a water stop. Just make sure you use trim that matches your design because you can see the trim at the base and door Thanks
