When you pull any nails one screws sand! Get rid of the bump left from the hole I think this is the best video on covering paneling.

I like this idea better than filling in the grooves with joint compound and having to do all that sanding. Does the paper actually cover the grooves and leave a really flat surface, or does it get slightly sucked into the groove so that the paper is not completely flat?
@richardjones4018 Жыл бұрын
I think it's way easier to fill and sand.

Tried it based on your recommendation - turned out to be a really bad idea. Partly because the paneling install was not great - a lot of effort to make the paneling edges even. Most of the extra work came from trying to fix the paneling grooves that show through the paper when painted. It would have been much easier to pull down the paneling and deal with the mess left on the drywall. Your video is well done, but for me at least, it is based on a faulty premise.

Don't you have to rinse the surface after using the tsp (or substitute) and before applying the sizing? I'm hoping not.

How do you layer the paper where it meets another strip? Or is there no layering at all? If so, how do you manage to get the edges flush?
@kelcritcarroll3 жыл бұрын
No layering just butt up on piece to another! Im asuming you can use a bit of a spackle type product if you have any flaws after the paper is up! I used to work for a professional painter and paper hanger

I filled all,the cracks with mud in my whole home …only to find several cracks that i cant fix….the paneling must have a tiny gap behind it…ive sunk in so many staples with a gun the house got heavier..!😁😁😁so i may do this on those walls instead!

could i use spackle to fill in the grooves before applying the strips?
@dynastigreene48033 жыл бұрын
This is the same thing I was wondering
@victoriaflatgard48263 жыл бұрын
@@dynastigreene4803 I have done that, but it's time consuming and it shrink's when it dries, so you have to then do it twice or maybe again, it's best to do what he did and do the liner, that's what I'm doing.

What you dont talk about is the cost of doing this vs the cost of caulking or just painting over it. Why is this? I think that it is cost prohibitive, but you wont mention that.
