We are getting a Cane Corso in August '20 and your videos have been invaluable. We want to be responsible canine leaders to a breed that needs strong guidance. Thank you for answering my question on your IG story.

I liked the point about the snuggle puppy. For me i think my puppy really liked it. Like you said, it was one of many tools and I think it was a good tool. Within the first three days of being home he slept through the night completely and he’s been a dream ever since. We were able to phase out the puppy too, from it being in the crate with him, to on top of the crate, to not needing it at all. Now it’s just another toy lol I will say those things are durable! He flings it around and wrestles with it constantly and six months later there’s still no rips, tears, or loose strings. It’s a good investment imo

Hi guys! Thanks for the info. Got the snuggle puppy the same day we brought Bella home. She seems to like it more when the heart beat is on.

Anything to suggest for crate training whilst working from home and having to do customer service/speaking on phones all day, hard to pretend your not there with having to speak all day and hard to ignore my puppy barking as it's picked up when on calls? Any advice would be great

We tried the snuggle puppy with our new boy and it wound him right up, he tried to dig it out and play with it! I’ve taken the heart out now and it’s one of his favourite retrieve toys instead. Ticking clock worked wonders with our last dog.

I just want you to know, I love your boot camp video . Love your collar and lead. Will you be making, a lead and collar, in leather? I do have your lead and collar, and get tons of complaints. Your videos are so helpful.. you and Jason doing videos are also very helpful. I have a cane corso/ pit mix, and I love all of who he is

Not a trainer here but I wouldn’t suggest it and tbh they might not even go if you put it in the crate bc they don’t like sleeping and peeing in the same space so they may end up holding it and whining all night instead. Something that might help so you get some sleep too is taking up food and water about two hours before bedtime, that way he doesn’t wake up often. Also maybe take turns every two hours to let him out the crate (if he’s two months old). I wouldn’t wait until he’s whining in the crate bc then they learn that whining means you’ll let them out. Always try to let them out the crate when they’re quiet and settled. Another thing, I live in an apt and I had to pee pad train my pup. He has a playpen sort of setup where his pad is in one corner, his food in another, and his crate in another, and then he’s out and about through the day in one area of the apt (once he was trained). He just knows to go to his “bathroom” when he has to go. When we were training him, we gave him a treat and said “potty” whenever he went on the right spot. Been six months and no accidents except the very first week from bringing him home n he was just a baby n even then it was only bc we were trying to run to take him outside n he couldn’t hold it the whole way out the bldg poor thing lol but this channel and McCann training channel were really helpful tbh

Ive had my puppy for 3 months now, she is perfectly happy in her crate at bed time and through the night since day 1, but during the day she will only settle down in the crate if I am in the room. Otherwise she barks and digs and whines and sometimes starts shaking. I've tried exercising her first and I've tried special toys/kongs but she has no interest in them in the crate. I've tried the slow method, of leaving for a few seconds, then rewarding quiet behaviour with a treat, and I've tried ignoring her while working from home. But I need to go to work and I cant have her barking while I'm gone half the day as I am moving into an apartment building. I'm so desperate for help.

@@hayleymacdonald6514 Hi Hayley, we're still struggling with this actually! But it has improved a lot. We are working with a trainer and we have learned that often dogs with separation anxiety also have anxiety when locked in a crate (despite online sources saying its the best option). We started leaving her alone in my bedroom while I am at home in other parts of the house and working her up to several hours, and leaving the house for short periods of time. She is much less stressed when not confined to the crate and hasnt shown other destructive tendencies (we have a doggy cam set up). Desensitizing our dog to us picking up keys, getting dressed, etc (things she would associate with us leaving) has helped too. We will pick up our keys and give her a treat, then put the keys down. Get dressed to go out, put jacket on etc, and then just sit on the couch. This will teach her to not have anxiety about these things. Lastly we will give her a wonderful special treat, and when she is really into it we will leave the apartment for a few seconds/minutes (build up the time) and come back in and pick up the treat. This teaches her good things happen when we are gone but its special to when she is alone. I hope some of these tips help! McCann Dog trainers youtube page has been helpful too!

Those are rookie numbers. I crate trained my puppy while working away from home - I drove home to take her out three times during my shift.
