beadaholique.c... - Learn how to herringbone wrap a bead. This wire wrapping technique creates a dramatic effect by overlapping wires as you weave and wrap them together around a center bead. With a loop at each end, these beads make perfect links and connectors.

VOILA! You can't imagine how pleased I am with this video and myself,,the links have a rich feel and heft to them making for an elegant element for design,,I still had to observe closely to tell which direction you started and which you wrapped toward.THX :)

Thank you so much I hope to see other project from YOU !!.

Very Good! However,might I suggest instructing which direction to wrap the 1st loop direction,,lol,as when I was following along,I ended up opposite of where you did,like a left-hander might,but I sorted it out and started all over again,really pretty design,I've been trying to learn the proper technique for a couple years now,so easy,yet looks so difficult! Sure hope sterling silver wire comes back down to earth one day so I can use that instead of the cheapie kind,but for now practice THXALT!

Making it long as you suggest might very well work, I would say to give it a try for sure. The only other thing that I can think of is if you wrapped some wire around the two end loops to create a band, but I am not sure how comfortable this would be.

Hi! If you have a stone that does not have a hole, you can try and wire wrap along all the edges and see if you can get a secure fit, but you will not be able to wire wrap it in the same way as shown in the video and you will need to be really cautious that it is secure. Wyatt White did a video for us showing how to wire wrap a piece without a hole, this might help you: "How to Do a Wire Wrapped Stone Setting"

This is such a lovely design, and if you are using a "good" stone (pearl / high quality stone), I'm "assuming" you would use higher quality wire, such as SS of SP? For practice, which is the stage I'm at, I'm using as inexpensive wire as possible, and beads, just to learn. Thank you, good video, good explanation. Will try it soon .... PEACE...
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 12 жыл бұрын
If you try it with a different shaped bead, your wrappings will be odd shaped, they are going to mimic the shape of the bead. The round bead is really perfect for this technique because it creates nice smooth wraps. I would suggest trying other shapes but I think you will be happiest with rounds and ovals vs. squares and rectangles.

Just so you know, if someone is new to jewelry making like I am, saying to eye ball the length of the wire is not helpful, I need to know at least an approximate length because I can't tell if you eyeballed 6 inches or 24 inches.

@beadaholique
@beadaholique 9 жыл бұрын
+Natalie Caballero Unfortunately this particular wrapping technique needs to be done on a bead with a hole so that you can shoot the wire through the hole and use it as the foundation for your wraps. It is possible to wire wrap crystals without holes but it is usually a more free form type wrap.
