For my bar Mitzvah project, I chose to help a park in Oakland be more cared for. The people in the neighborhood asked me to design a map of the park with layers and details that you can toggle on or off. I couldn’t decide which program to use so my dad, Adam Weiss, looked up good programs that I can use. He came across this video and we checked it out and it helped us so much. Amy, I've been growling for some time. My GPS, the county site and the Lat/Long formats allowed, and the interface are really difficult with Maps. Dang. I'm a technical guy but what should be simple and intuitive is beyond comprehension and the help is benign. Maybe my county doesn't contribute property lines but there are no little green lines for parcels. Trying to input Lat/Long points is incomprehensible - they are rejected, regardless of filter tools for format. And how can one delete previous markers done manually? Still trying that effort. Arrgh.

Just a caution: tax boundary information is nor necessarily actual ownership boundary. Some say "close enough for government work" but if you want it to hold legal weight, you must rely on the original deed(s).

Tax boundaries don't show regardless how far zoom in or out, yet they show in Zillow. Please help.

I'm trying to embed my created map to my website. When I click the three dots in the upper right portion of my created map title, then click embed on my site", I get a window that tells me that my map is not public. I don't get the "Sharing settings" page at 8:42 like you got? Instead, I get a small box that's titled "Share with people and groups". I click change settings and it shows "Public". What gives?

This seems to give only a close approximation. At least in rural Eastern Nevada County, CA the tax line maps are very inaccurate.

The tutorial was very helpful, Amy! A little doubt though. The area of the polygon is shown in acres and mine shows in hectare. I am unable to change It to acres or any other annotation other than hectare. Could you please show how it could be done? Much help.

All tax line boundries are off by at least 20 feet and in Ohio usually 20 feet on the right Left/Right borders ...

The tax lot boundaries do not display. I'm using an iMac desktop / Firefox as my browser. Rural NW Arkansas property.

Googlemaps has my property offset from the actual location. This may be due to the fact that I live on a dirt portion of the road and the Google mapping car does not or did not go 150' past the paved intersection. Also after following the directions you provide, I do not see any tax lines for my or any of the adjacent properties. I am in NC. Any ideas? Thank you for a very interesting video.

This is what is frustrating about youtube videos, rarely do you get a video that is accurate and helps you. I have been trying to get clean maps that show just the property lines boundaries etc just like what you see in the intro in your video. I logged on Google Earth Pro and do not see a map options tab like in this video.I tried to do a screenshot to illustrate but dip %^%&^% youtube doesn't seem to have an option to attach files go figure.
