Can you make a tutorial on ,How to write strategic battles in manga and comics

In my first manga idea "Mikon no Miraii" I had a power system which used Prana (Comparable to Ki/Chi in Dragon Ball and Chakra in Naruto).

Im thinking of a power system called "Ideya" in which it represents ideas, concepts, physical objects, sciences, fears, etc. and pretty much everything that the Collective Unconscious of humanity has ever thought of in the past and in the future is represented by an Ideya. An Ideya fluctuates in power based on what correlation and things that they can relate to the Ideya. For example, the Ideya of Heart Attacks are influential and feared because of its terrifying idea that sprouts in someone's head when they think of what is a heart attack. Not to mention that it is widely known throughout the world with news, statistics, articles, books, and etc. In comparison of something like a hotdog, far less people would think of it as inherently deadly or influential, sure it can cause health problems, and you can choke on it if you're unlucky but it definitely feels a lot less terrifying than a heart attack. It is well known but far less people would deem it more influential than a heart attack and far less important. When an Ideya is given too much power, they may be able to manifest in the real world and wreak havoc, help in disasters, etc. depending on what Ideya it represents. Not all Ideya are malicious after all, as there are some good that humanity has made to outweigh the bad. From the moment that they are born through someone's thoughts, they are "born" and become sentient however they are completely incapable of introspection as they're cognition and mentality is limited to what Ideya they represent. For some Ideya's that are too weak to manifest in the real world can choose a host that suits the Ideya they represent, however in doing this, they forfeit their sentience in exchange of potentially fulfilling the ideal of what they represent since that's really the only thing they care about. They also can die in certain circumstances. To do that, that Ideya itself would have to be forgotten by literally everybody with no physical trace of it existing to permanently kill an Ideya, so they're almost immortal. Once an Ideya has chosen suitable host for it to fulfill its Ideya, it gives it's power to it's host which is then changed and molded onto what the host's interpretation of the Ideya is, creating a new power that shares the concept of the Ideya but gives it, it's own little spin based on interpretation. This is called a Cogitation. For suitability to be achieved, that specific host must have had certain incidents in his life that make him attuned to the Ideya's concept. For example, one of the characters, called Ven is chosen as a host of the Ideya of Karmic Retribution due to events in his past making him suitable to embody that idea as he is obsessed with taking down criminals and just being a sadist to them based on his personal experiences. The Ideya's original power is reflection of damage in which whatever you do to him, will be done unto you, in Ven's case, this is changed from his Cogitation called Javelins Of Judgement which is incredibly effective based on an objective view of the target's actions. This makes him significantly weaker when fighting morally right and just people who have done no wrong in society's eyes. These Cogitations can also evolve depending on the development of their character giving them improved or even new capabilities. There are also contracts in which normal people who aren't suitable hosts, get into a contract with an Ideya, with its conditions needed to be completed or else there will be disastrous consequences to both parties involved, however these contracts often cause negative effects to the one who agrees to the contract as they are incompatible and is in risk of their minds going insane. This is most commonly seen in weapons, artifacts, items, etc.

In my recent manga idea "GHOUR",I have a power system called "Trigger" which revolves around the main types of energy. In Ghour,everyone has energy but only a few people can awaken it by going through a massive breakpoint that triggers their emotions.

I love this. The more you explain, the more anime/manga pops into my head as examples of power systems being great or ruining the story for me. Perfectly articulates what I was thinking in some cases! 🤣

I’ve wanted to make a comic where the characters use these things called “marks” Marks being Symbols engrained onto the users as a merit badge from the gods of a specific personality. For example. A courageous character may have the Mark of courage and a smart character may have the mark of wisdom.

I'm making a story where the power system is divided into 4 categories. *Scientific/Mathematical* -Speed, Gravity, Time, Size, Etc *Elemental* -Fire, Water, Air, Etc *Biological* -Living Creatures of any kind, fictional and non-fictional *Psychological* -Anything about the human mind like emotions, memories, mentality I honestly don't know why I'm sending this, I just feel like sharing my power system. For my manga, "Wildman Maxeeno", I am thinking of a life-force energy called Motor Energy. Each character would also have their special abilities called Drive, which is based on their personalities and would use Motor Energy to use their powers in various styles. (Much like Semblance and Aura from RWBY). The Motor Energy users vary like Nen users from Hunter X Hunter in terms of style. (Enhancers, Conjurers, Manipulators, Emitters, Transmutaters and Specialists).

So, I haven't really picked out a magic system yet, I'm figuring out my stories. I have so many ideas about different things....But some that have come to mind is using war paint as something for a magic system. But the theme has been light I guess. In the ideas that I've come up with the main character has these marking that help manipulate light around her & absorb light. But when it comes to the rest of the world in the story, not everyone has magic. I was planning to make the main character have magic because she bonded to a magical creature or magic jewelry. But I still don't know. I honestly haven't thought that far.

Well, maybe I'll be publishing it when I'm older, but I want to write a story that is going to be able to get an anime adaptation sooner or later and become part of the future big three. Hi! So I used your time stamps as a template for drafting my own Shounen power system. I hope you like it and maybe you could put your input on it too! :) My power system is called ‘Strain’. The theme of the power is mental health, emotions and stress, as Strain is formed from stress which stems from different feelings and emotions. The source of the power is within the body as emotions and stress are universal to all living beings, however there are two ways of acquiring it. 1. Through a natural event known as a ‘Trigger’ which is when the cause of stress kicks in and starts spreading around the body 2. Some characters are unable to unlock it through a certain process (I based it off this thing called the HPA-Axis, where stress is recognised but before it completes its cycle it transforms into a new energy source for people to utilise). There limit of the power depends on the application of energy that characters use; if a character uses too much/a lot of Strain, then they may need time to recharge it. Additionally, the more negative the stress is, the more dangerous it becomes so characters need to know the limits of their own energies. They compensate for this by wearing these watches known as monitors which help for understanding how far they can push themselves until their breaking point The world-building of the power relates to how Strain can be found in everyone, but it needs to be fully activated before its properties can be discovered. I was unsure on whether to make the power known to the public or kept secret, since the idea of your emotions being your power can be seen in both ways, so I’m still debating on this factor. The effects of the power can be seen with different users. On the protagonist’s side there are ‘Antibodies’ and they are responsible for providing public safety and dealing with creatures known as ‘Viruses’. Antibodies use Strain to help vaccinate people and neutralise viruses to help better society; these are creatures born from a human’s own stress. Those who aren’t affiliated with Antibodies but use Strain are referred to as ‘Strain Users’. With this in mind, they may use their powers for chaos and disrupting the peace of mind if the public, basically the opposite of Antibodies in most cases. The appearance of the power has two forms. First there’s it’s ‘original’ form, which is comprised of black strains of animated energy which has a primal/animalistic type of behaviour (think of the Symbiotes from Marvel/Spider-Man). Then there’s it’s ‘activated form’ which acts as a glowing black/grey energy (I’m still trying to decide on the colour of the aura) that can be seen illuminating from an Antibody’s/Strain User’s body (think cursed energy from Jujutsu Kaisen) The consequences of the power is that the more that characters use Strain, the more of risk they have of either dying or turning into a Virus. - I tinkered around with this concept of what the monster should be like. So rather than being created from stress (like cursed spirits are created from cursed energy) I made it so that people actually turn into viruses and there is a probability of whether they can convert back to normal or not. If a character does become stressed/apply too much energy in any way for prolonged amounts of time, then that’s when the risk of dying/transforming becomes apparent; there are also side effects such as becoming more fatigued, slow, and disoriented with even your veins having Strain present within them. As mentioned in the limit section, they compensate with monitors as well as training/meditation too. The categories of power isn’t that prevalent, but I was thinking of categorising powers through emotions. When first activating Strain, it could try and estimate what the main emotion is the motivator behind the stress in the first place. - For example say someone had a heartbreak - the main emotions from that would be sadness, emptiness and loneliness; the character would have to avoid using those emotions in order to avoid becoming too stressed. - Another examples is someone who won the lottery - the main emotions from that would be happiness, joy and a sense of fulfilment; the character in question would have to avoid being happy most of the time in case the become too stress/overwhelmed If there was a scale or chart, then it would address that more negative emotions in conjunction with Strain is naturally stronger than positive emotions. Basically : - Negative = strong but volatile - Positive = weak but stable The abilities of the power are known as ‘Stressors’. These are premeditated abilities that usually come along once Strain has been activated in someone’s body; they are also formed from an event that maybe have caused someone a great amount of stress that is practically permanent with their life - For example, someone could have witnessed another person’s death which may have caused them to feel regret that they didn’t do anything to save them. As a result, when activating their Strain they gained an ability to see a second into the future in order to prevent others from dying/getting injured (Foresight) If they were or obtain a new ability, then it could be a variation of that ability but with a slight addition to its rules - With this persons foresight, they could expand their ability by being able to see attacks from different perspectives at once, but with the restriction of a timed limit acting as the barrier in between over/under powered. The history of the power is that Strain has been apparent since the dawn of humanity, since stress and negative emotions have been a part of human nature even back in the Stone Age. However, creatures like viruses having begun showing up until in recent years. Antibodies have also not been present until Viruses started showing up and began acting as a threat towards people and society; it is their responsibility to neutralise this threat. The integration part I’m still thinking of but I’ve had some ideas of how this power system could affect the plot: - Naturally, Strain would start affecting the world by shrouding places in darkness, this increases the likelihood of natural viruses to occur - Groups and cults could start worshipping ideas of letting go of humanity to become ones with ourselves (due to viral transformation) - The Government could be using Viruses as a conspiracy ploy, and the Antibodies are playing into their hands - Themes of reincarnation/life after death or transforming So this is the basis of my power system, I apologise for the long read but I had so many ideas to run with. I hope you could shed some light on the category aspect as I wanted to see how I could make my power system seem more unique. My inspirations for this power system came from Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Spider-Man (Symbiotes), and a tiny bit from Bleach and much recently Fire Force. In my manga, black starfire, they use blood abilities. One of these is the one that the main character has, called grey blood. It doesn’t really do anything, until he discovers the counter ability, which allows him to attack with two times the force of the attack he was just hit with. The limitation is that if they use blood abilities too much they’re heart stops beating.

I think my mine’s gonna be called Cosmeto, basically a power system that allows the users access different types of elements of the universe but in a way which allows them to basically bend almost dark matter a bit and “creation” (something I try to develop lately. The users can also their newfound powerful strength, agility, speed, durability, and reflexes.

In one of my manga ideas I thought of making some characters have a sort of demon in them that grants them their powers. They essentially use different things like water, wind or sunlight to create a sort of energy which they can use to access different body parts of the demon inside of them like if one has a demon with tough skin and and spikes on his arms the character would be able to obtain some of those features. The weakness would be that the characters need those certain things to access their powers and while they can store reserves there is a limit on the reserves and they have weaknesses based on what thing they need to absorb to create their energy. For example if they need water then if they convert too much water or water to quickly they might end up using up to much of their body fluids.

Wow this video is great! I learned quite a bit, and it helped further elaborate on things I already knew about such as Sandersons three laws. Though do you think you can perhaps make a video in the future on how to find inspiration for your power/magic system, as well as how to build off a singular or multiple combined ideas? I’ve seen plenty of videos like this one where, how to make a magic system, and what you should focus on is explained. But not how to find your base idea or concept and build off of it. I know finding inspiration is different for everyone, as there is no singular source of which you can find inspiration from(I for example find inspiration from popular forms of anime such as hunger x hunter, JoJo’s buzzard adventure, demon slayer, etc). Also some people prioritize some things more than others (I for one prioritize recognizability, not based on the art style but by the magic system itself. Like how you can almost instantly can tell ‘Hey, that’s a lightsaber from Star Wars’ or ‘Hey, that’s a stand from Jojo’ instead of ‘Hey that’s a cool laser sword’ or ‘Hey that’s a cool fighting spirit.’ I don’t consider recognizability the most important, but for me it is something I heavily consider when making my power systems). Regardless I think it would be interesting to have a video about it, as I myself often struggle with finding inspiration and coming up with ideas. Edit: Grammar fix + Minor elaboration.

My series Boogyman Overkill is a divided power system from the start. Boogeyman Hunters have 'apparition' , a power tied to the users weapon of choice and designed specifically for killing boogymen. Boogyman have 'fear' this allows them to consume the fear of human beings and use it to live and gain powers to use against the Hunters and kill humans to consume them. Essentially they're both sides of the same coin

Mine is basically dojutsu and chakra but I do have one OP character as the main character but he can’t do certain things without the help of friends and the element of the chakra depends on the dojutsu but with the main character you can use all the elements of chakra oh, and also , it was part of a prophecy and there are two clans

I finally finished a power system for my manga : A energy called Orterra (still working on the name) everyone is born with and flows through your body just like blood. With the energy people can learn to use it to boost their physical capabilities (speed , durability , strength , iq etc) so the world Is essentially a war-ground of robbing and war but it is a certain chance for people to be born with the energy evolved into either a cultivation of hereditary powers or a singular unique power. you lose the ability to use the energy to become big strong but now you have a superpower the reason this is either bad or good is you could end up with a weak ability like +1 iq and lose the ability to harness the energy or you could end up with reality manipulation.

Man this helped a lot. I now have an idea about a comic that uses two power sources, environmental energy and hexa drug. Environmental energy is like chakra in Naruto but more complex and hexa drug is a special drug that underground organization uses to create senseless people. When the experiment fails, users often get powers connected to human mind. It has a cost, that is. User also gets a mental disorder, like paranoia, depression, random migraines, or he/she can't be sad, or happy. The story is about a young warrior who aims to be the greatest revolutionary/warrior in the world. Just thought I could share an idea. The name of the comic is Kaminari or Thunder, which is the environmental energy of the main character, Sashinagi Keto.

Character idea: A guard with thunder abilities who uses their abilities to use their hands as tazers to knock out particularly rambunctious criminals/monsters. The main limitations would be that the actual strength of their electricity is not very strong, though it would become stronger and gain more diverse uses as the story progresses.

I pretty much started writing my own fictional world and story just because of a power system I created. Best way to describe the power system I've created is that it is simple yet complex and it can be destructive and broken while being able to easily dealt with. It pretty much has a wide range of abilities/powers that has been classified in different categories and everyone in this fictional world has their own unique ability. The abilities can range from being able to emit nuclear energy to being able to manipulate people's soul which means this power system has no limit when it comes to how destructive/broken these super powers can become. However, it does have a weakness though which is Bleeding. The "energy" for my power system is stored in the user's bloodstream and if the user gets wounded/cut then the energy will start leaking out of the body. Everyone can regenerate said energy of course but when they bleed, they leak more energy than they could ever produce it. I chose this weakness for my power system for a form of balance towards every classes of abilities and to also make sure that the fight scenes are quicker and more intense. With this weakness in mind, this could mean that the technology of this world adapts to this weakness. The clothing of the characters would be thicker or are made by a hard to tear material in-order to prevent getting wounded. The weapons are sharper/stronger and are usually enhanced with the ability of their users. One scene I've thought of where they use technology to beat a character is when my pretty overpowered 3rd main character gets shot by a gun at the start of the fight and was unable to participate on the entire fight because he was down the entire time(No plot armor can save this MC on the hands of a gun XD). So yeah, I pretty much made a fictional world based on this power system.

The power system in my story is called Balence of energy/demon arts. Balence of energy is something the demon hunters in my story can do. Each one has their own unique gifts. The demon use flames abd their are levels to them.

The power system on my novel is just improved human capabilities of a specific stat like physical stats or agility and depending on how you use the "upgraded stat" there grows abilities and can be passed through your own blood Example for this is having the "improved physical ability" and you trained yourself on improving your punching strength which exceeds the limits of the humans and the more you train it the more stronger it gets when it gets passed through your offspring. If given enough time, your grandson can destroy the earth just punching (kinda like one for all that gets stronger when passed but in this case only your child will inherit your power)

It’s hard for me as I’m trying to make my power system but I don’t know if I want it to be more magic like black clover and wise mans grandchild or more energy wise like Naruto and Bleach, all I have currently is that it’s based off elements and some elements are more rarer then others, like say my MC the clan/family he’s reincarnated into is known to have gravity type power and there’s a super rare form of it called void, I have the elements and abilities flushed out but I can’t seem to be able to make a consequence or limit as it’s hard to not seem like Naruto or the other big three and new big three

my power system is called ren i got inspiration from hxh (i swapped the n from nen with r) its like an element system. with ren u can transform into a beast based on the ren element u have u can only change when u have enough ren. and u can get other teqniques also based on the ren element. my plot is that my main char gets so angry that he uses all his ren to transform and avenge his uncle. if u use all ur ren u can die and thats what happened to my main char.

I've been developing a power system called ; AMCT-000 Which is a magic source that involves breathing in oxygen to convert it into ethereal particles throughout a chamber that alternates molecules. That is in every living creature, but can only be unlocked by items forged by a mythical entity whose said to sit upon a particular throne on the primeval seas. There's two main concepts ; - Internal MGK effect. - External MGK effect. - For an example, External MGK can have a subcategory called pseudo physics. Which an example of power is to express a creation of velocity of rippling energy that vibrate the air molecules traveling to each one, generating a sonic barrier breaking from the velocity surpassing the wavelength of sound. Which releases an energy that that can be widespread or pinpointed to release a Shockwave that has a dual ability for internal impact destroying one from the inside by using the concentrated energy to vibrate your insides with the constant pressure to liquidation or implosion depending on the velocity increasing pace. Or you could use the explosion effect releasing it into a Shockwave leading with a gust of wind equivalent to a jet breaking the sound barrier creating the sonic boom. - The star for my Manga is a collection of magical seals, they're extremely adorable heroic, comedic companions for the MC.

I was planning on having like multiple different power system in different regions but my main character have only one of these power system and can't adopt another...but to make it fair...each power system can counter others or can have no advantage against them...depends on strategy they have But it's main antagonist have all these power systems and have another secret extra one Yet I don't know if it's a good idea

Im making a webcomic and im thanking about a power system

I've got 3 power systems. But I'll talk about one in particular that's wrapped up more in the lore. It's simple but has a double cost to use it. It's technically a power given to the people by a God yet only a select few know. They also don't know that the only reason that the other Gods don't offer the same is because the God already granting power is hogging everyone. Power systems are fun.

My only problem is that I can't seem to come up with something original, like whenever something hits my mind, I realise another manga/anime may already have that, and so I'm afraid readers won't be interested in them or even think I just stole others ideas. for example I thought of something like Cursed or Negative Emotions where certain people gain curses/powers whenever their negative emotions reach a certain degree. And with that comes different and unique techniques to the cursed powers. I searched about it to make sure no other manga or anime has that and turns out an animanga called jujutsu kaisen had a power system nearly identical to what I had in mind and I just felt like a complete idiot after that and currently at a state where I don't know what I should do.

I'm actually using a tweaked version of the Mana system that most video games, anime, fantasy movies, and fantasy series use for Magic in my fan manga. If your familiar with Kingdom Hearts, you'll know that it's basically an anime version of the Disney Universe. However story wise, they mostly keep to their original characters and hardly include any of the classic Disney characters, excluding Mickey Mouse and his friends. They also hardly touch on the Disney lore from the movies they implement into the story. But I'm working on a manga that takes place in the Disney universe, except it uses the actual lore established in all of the classic and modern Disney movies and series. The story would also be a a bit darker than Disney or even Kingdom Hearts is used to, not R rated, but more classic Dragon Ball Z level dark. Also, you'll have to imagine all of your favorite Disney character in an Anime art style instead of their traditional Disney style. Magic is a less powerful, but more stable version of Mana. If you are familiar with Fullmetal Alchemist, Magic is a type of Mana that can transmutate into any form. For example, Fire Magic, Ice Magic, Wind Magic, and Lightning Magic are transmutation of Mana, which in it's original form, is a cosmic blue light. If Mana can be harnessed in it's purest form, that person would possess a power equal to a god that can destroy universes. Anyone can awaken and harness their Mana, however using their own Mana means they are harnessing the power of their own life force. What people call a soul is merely the physical Mana of a person that can take on different forms, depending on how it's manipulated. Ghosts or Spirits are a sentient manifestation of one's Mana that have simply taken on the memories and identity of it's former life. Sorcerers harness Mana from the very universe itself, allowing them to not risk their lives using their own. However, if someone were to force any Mana locked away within themselves to come out, their body would overload with Mana and explode with a force of 100 nuclear explosions, killing anything or anyone near them. There is a rare type of Mana user called Mana Mutation, an example of a Mana Mutation is someone who is born with a Magical Power, they however cannot strengthen their Mana, but can strengthen their power. (This concept would be an in universe explanation to the Superpowers in Disney's The Incredibles movie and the Magical Powers in Disney's Encanto movie, which was also the movie to inspire this part of the concept) The most dangerous use of Mana is when someone uses a Spellsword form of combat, which is what the main protagonist uses. The protagonist was inspired by Asta from Black Clover and so uses a two handed greatsword, he uses his Magic in tandem with his swordsmanship. This means that he has to use his Magic enchant his physical abilities, risking him being a ticking time bomb if he breaks through his Mana's limits too fast. However, if he is able to break through his Mana's limits carefully, (Which he will because he's the protagonist LOL) then he will be able to become stronger than even the most powerful characters in the Disney universe.

I chose a power system that is kind of like a combination of magic from Black Clover and quirks from My Hero Academia. The power is called "Aunket". Most common (73%): - Water - Air - Healing - Fire - Earth Uncommon (17%): - Teleportation - Dark - Mystical (Take the form of a mystical creature) - Weapon creation (Technically you can only create swords) - Manipulation (Kind of like the force) Rare (5%): - Light - Double Aunket (Let's you have 2 Aunkets) - Color (Throws colorful beams of paint) - Energy Super rare (4%): - Imaginary (You can create anything you want as long as it's not alive) - Soul (Turns your soul into a physical being; sort of like a clone) - Dark Elements (The ability to use water, fire, earth, and air in a darker form) Also there is a 1% chance that you end up with no powers at all, but your body is stronger and you're more physically capable than people with an Aunket.
