Hey Ron. So one year and a bit later...do you still have the synth? Is it getting used? Did it’s usefulness run out? I’m tempted to buy one of these while I wait for my pulsar to ship. I think I can find a good use for it in the studio but worry that it won’t stay relevant.

@@mattnickel5113 hmm go to my videos and look at the last video I posted. I love this thing it's one of my favorites. I can't tell you what to buy or not but it's staying here. Also pulsar I'm on the list but no update yet.

Ron Cavagnaro thx for the reply. Heh that waiting list is a bit ambiguous isn’t it? I tried to google what waits were at but didn’t have much luck. Looks like people receiving now waited ~18 months. Soma said they were ramping up production though. I never received a placeholder number so really have absolutely no clue what to expect!

Boy does Lyra 8 love to sing darkly... even the most unassuming "mellow, meditational, calming" starts seem to wind up in the darkest reaches of some interplanetary horrorscape (and I mean that as a positive endorsement of course). Love your soundscapes..Outstandingt performance..

Thank you!!! I absolutely love it yes it borders from heavenly to hellish in seconds, often riding it in between, but then it seems to jump to something else. I love it so much!

What i love about this thing is its ability to sing like a human. You can get it to sing like a soprano. Its very strange and intense. Havent run it through anything yet. Ill probably try my Ventris, orthe Enzo. I also have a LEM granular delay which is a beautiful pedal. cant wait to try them.

I've learned a few things, the only way this great video could have been better was if it was done half with the Eventide and half Straight Lyra. Its rare to hear a Synth demo without the demonstration including other machines or effects. Thank you for the upload and it was a very well done performance of ambient music as well.

Great video on how to use this living on its own Synth. Im getting mine soon and hope i can get some rythm/ pulse from the Arturia keystep seq into the CV Voice on LYRA 8 so its not just one long tone. And maybe get an drummachine in it together with LYRA 8 sounds and some CV in from keystep seq. Maybe you could make another great video about the CV ins on LYRA 8? Thanks alot for your very teaching and informative videos about LYRA :)
@RonCavagnaro
@RonCavagnaro 5 жыл бұрын
It's not very effective from my tests. You might be disappointed with the results, it effects only modulation I think. It works best standalone. If I figure out maybe a better way to use CV I'll do a video but haven't gotten really much with it.
@csrader
@csrader 4 жыл бұрын
Agree with Ron here. The CV inputs are not going to behave as you expect, just like much of the functionality in this synth is "unconventional". Check the reviews very carefully, especially the SonicState one with Nick Blatt. If I remember, he connects some CV to the inputs and results are unexpected. This is not really a box to "tame" in terms of working into a conventional setup. I think your best use for this is standalone soundscapes, with perhaps some other free-form/freestyle instrumentation over top of it working as a sonic canvas, if you will. But don't even expect to stay "in key". If you read creator Vlad Kreimer's philosophy, he's actually "anti-tonal", if you will, preferring instead organic interaction with the device and non-linear structure/anti-structure and corresponding outcomes.

Ron, just picked up a Lyra8 and hope to be exploring soon. How did you compensate for the mono output on this? Did you just use plugins or an effects device to pan by frequency?
