how did you solve that problem? I am currently facing that dilemma.

David Huerta when you come to use that particular layer and it disappears I delete it and copy the multiply layer seemed to work. The other fidget I tried was using threshold as an adjustments layer and then merging down then using the sumo-e but without changing it to a smart layer

yea, same happened with me .. any clue?

I accomplished it by removing the smart object from the layer, adding the threshold option (as shown) then once completing that, made it a smart object again. It worked for me and didn't adversly affect the outcome. (Hope this helps)
