Lately, I've been animating various physical exercises and have been trying to periodically adjust for several months so that the character's shorts do not fall through the body. I watched dozens of different videos, scrolled through a bunch of sites, tried a variety of methods, even with the removal of part of the character's polygons under the clothes, but nothing worked. Thank you very much. You helped me a lot and I learned a lot of useful workflows. In past, I was resolving the base mesh peeking through the clothing by defining a mask vertex group for the character mesh, and toggling it, and it was a pain.

Great video! Adding a solidify modifier and just pumping it up by a small amount should help resolve clipping issues as well.
