How to crochet a circle that lies flat without it turning into a bowl - beginners real time tutorial.
In this video I show step-by-step how to make a lovely crochet round without getting any of those turned up edges. I know this is a problem that a lot of crocheters have when trying to crochet in the round when making things like coasters or mats.
If you're struggling to keep your crochet rounds flat, then this video will help, as I explain lots of reasons why the edges turn up and the simple things to change to get your coasters to sit flat.

Tilly!!! I MUST do something with my hands when watching TV also; it drove my ex husband crazy because he thought i wasn’t paying attention to the show, so i got rid of him, now binge watch Netflix and crochet my little heart out! Best magic circle tutorial I've seen . It shows how to have much better control. I also appreciated the explanation of using larger hooks to relieve tension. I also must add that I can not watch TV without keeping my hands busy. Crochet has been a true blessing for me over the years. Great tips. I used my leftover yard to make larger circles to place between my stacked fry pans. Keeps them from scratching each other.

I love the multicolored ones! I bought some thin multicolored yarn and I’m a beginner…only have done this for a week and all I I can do right now is a chain stitch and I haven’t even mastered doing a single stitch or whatever so this looks very difficult. However I’m really wanting to make some coasters for our new living room tables so eventually I’m going to hopefully find my way back here and make some multicolored round coasters. Hopefully they turn out as good as yours did! ❤

Two comments: 1) THANK YOU for explaining what needs to happen! I want to learn WHY a stitch does or does not need to happen. That will help me be a better crocheter. 2) I have watched other videos for coasters and they skip that gap (14:30), and I feel it looks odd. You make it look more uniform! I have only been crocheting three weeks, so I am obviously learning a bunch! THANK YOU!!! From this video alone, you have gained a new subscriber! PS- Just went to your other videos.
