How to crochet a simple striped baby romper

This step by step tutorial will show you how to crochet an easy baby romper. This romper is suitable for beginners.
For size 0 - 3 months use a 4mm crochet hook
For size 3 - 6 months use a 4.5mm crochet hook
For size 6 - 12 months use a 5mm crochet hook
For my romper I used a 4mm crochet hook and Drops Lima yarn (DK weight).

You can make ur own Counts while following the pattern. Im making onesie for 3months old baby. and it came out well. I'm using 4ply milk yarn. 4.5mm hook and my counts on the width of the body is 35chains + 1. I'm not a pro. in 2months of crocheting I found out that when ur following patterns. U can make ur own size and counts.

I came across this problem too. I got two rows in (DK weight, bamboo yarn, 4.25mm hook) and realized this width would be large on my 8 month old. I then looked up average baby measurements and realized I was working a 12 month old size when with the yarn and the hook according to the pattern, should have been maybe 3 month. I tried 3.25mm hook, that was measuring newborn size. I'm personally aiming for 3/3-6 month so finally tried 3.5mm hook and that's more looking like it's going to work. Personally, I've been crocheting for about a year, can crochet high intermediate patterns, but am very weary of altering patterns. If I change the hook size but keep the proportions, I can be fairly sure it'll work out as intended, but some patterns are very specific and you might spend 15/30/60+ hours on a project just to realize the ending is all off and you have to problem solve on the fly. I don't like that. So I don't. Hope this message is helpful to those who are experiencing similar issues in the future. Happy crocheting :)

Dimi - to let you know - I am from the USA. We do NOT say learnt - we say learned. If you are British then it is acceptable. But the CORRECT AMERICAN ENGLISH version is indeed learned. I am correct by American standards. Figures British can't speak correct English.

It would be great if you talked about different yarn and what crochet hook, because not everyone uses the yarn that you are using. Or maybe just state the measurement. It’s very confusing for me to figure out what crochet hook to use with the yarn that I’m using. Is anyone else having this problem? If anyone could help me in anyway I would appreciate it thank you

I did this exactly as the video states but it looks SO big! I did a 4mm hook for the 0-3m size and it looks like it will fit my toddler. Why? I used I love this cotton.

This is a great pattern but the only problem is tat there is no stretch in the width of the romper due to the fact that you crochet over the previous colour for each row. making it a sold colour would solve this problem.

Instead of using a bigger hook, cause I don't really like using a bigger hook (Mostly cause my hands are on the smaller side...). Can I use a bigger stitch instead?
