On December 11th and 12th, I was able to do a two day ride and informal clinic with the trials and enduro legend Graham Jarvis. What an amazing experience it was. One of the local Husqvarna dealers in this area, AD Triple S, brought him into town, provided a TE300 for him to ride and organized a paid ride in Moab Utah. I was fortunate enough to get an invite to this private/paid event and was able to have Scott, Sam, and Tyler come along with me.
The dealer's mechanics asked what all he needed done to the bike they were providing to him and he told them that he wanted it completely stock except for Goldentyres (one of his sponsors) along with moose bibs (he uses them all the time) and a skid plate. So there you have it. The legend on a completely stock Husky TE 300 for this ride/ clinic. Nothing special with the motor or the suspension. Pretty cool.
We started off the first day with a number of slow drills in the staging area/parking lot. We did those drills for about 2 hours. It took a long time since we had a total of 24 riders that day. Graham showed us techniques of using the suspension to get the front wheel to lift of the ground, techniques of clutch control, and some basic obstacle crossing drills. Then we headed off for a trail ride to find things to practice on.
During our 2 day ride, when he’d see something to “play around on”, he’d show off and dazzle us with his amazing ability. It was pretty freaking cool. It’s one thing to see him do stuff on Instagram, but it’s something entirely different to see it with your own eyes, in person!
