How to cross country ski with the V2 or also known as the one skate, skate ski technique, one of the most used and versatile cross country skiing techniques. Mostly used in flat or rolling terrain, but gradual to steep uphills and down hills can be applied as well. This video breaks down a few simple drills and progressions to get started with and get comfortable with the V2 technique, and sets up a good foundation to build all skate skiing techniques off of.
Sorry for the lack in audio and video quality I will hope to improve that over time and hope to improve my videos in general over time thank you for watching!

Very helpful, thank you! I've been having trouble finding a video that focuses on timing and coordination of poling/gliding in V2. Yours is excellent, with clear explanation and demonstration, as well as useful drills and progression. Thank you so much! And good luck in your racing.

Thanks Erik for a helpful, low-key video on one skate. The movement drills and "poles behind the hips" are great . . . am doing them now every time I'm on the trails. One of the few videos that show the marathon skate . . . I think it's a blast when the two-track is fast! Your best phrase "nothing crazy"; good way to look at it! Best wishes.

@@TomO68460 Oh That's awesome! And the perseverance is inspirational! With your experience your comments really mean a lot! Guess its me that should be asking to to help keep me on track! I do have a lot of other videos that I'm working on but, I've had some success with improving some ankle, knee, shoulder, elbow, and back issues, if I eventually posted some specific rehab excersises for skiers on here, would that be helpful?

@@eriklynch7037 Hi Eric great reply!! Definitely strenghtening.. rehab exercises would be helpful... just did a 33 km with hills skate in 3min 37 per km average... but last workout was 8 times 3 min 20 secs uphill intervals repeats hard.26 kms in all with warmup ..cooldown.. but my back gave out after.. left side damage from bike accident..acted up.. was not able to walk properly for a week .. so no training.. but am not giving up.. a few wipeouts have been nasty with road rash.. etc.. :) things much tougher with age... 🙂

On any of the technics are you using any ski edges or just kind of hopping over to other ski?

So you plant the poles at the same time you kick off. I think that's what I was doing. 🤔 I was trying to do V2 while rollerskiing today and had a hard time with my arms, I was moving them back and forth in a fast jerky manner to time the pole plant. Guess I don't have the balance (and speed because I'm afraid of falling) to glide long enough to have a more fluid motion with the poles? It wore me out FAST, had to take so many breaks and it made me really hate rollerskiing. lol
@eriklynch7037
@eriklynch7037 Жыл бұрын
Haha, I hope you try it 3 more times and let me know what you think! the balance can come fast and I can explain that more if you want. I hope you try no poles roller skiing and just swing your arms like you are roller blading until you get comfortable with that balance. practice that long drawn out, exaggerated glide on each leg/ski. once you can do that at will ad in the poles and arms. Also to rest the legs if needed in-between practicing no poles drills, do some double pole, practicing polling at different tempos. good luck!
