Thank you so much for the very useful tips. I love your little pug- Albert. It's funny that I met a little all black pug at the fog park the other day named Arthur. Lol... He and my dog Georgie really hit it off. Arthur only had one eye. I asked if he was born that way and she told me no, he wasn't born that way. One day he sneezed and his eye popped out. They couldn't save his eye unfortunately. Aww he was so adorable. I didn't know but apparently these stories are common with pugs and other dogs with bulgy eyes. Keep an eye on him! No pun intended 😊🐶 💜

Do you wash the coconut oil off of the dog??
@ellietobe4 жыл бұрын
Make sure you use organic extra virgin coconut oil for your pet. Processed coconut oil will do little for your pet. You can apply that coconut oil directly on your dog’s hot spots and any place he/she has chewed open the skin and made it red and irritated. Extra virgin coconut oil is anti microbial and will help kill bacteria and yeast. Keep the area clean of hair by trimming the fur off for a wide area around the effected area. The wound should be open to the air. Most dogs love to eat coconut oil but you don’t want them to get too much or it can cause diarrhea and other digestive issues. For a ten pound dog give not more than a teaspoon a day. If you are putting it on an area where your dog will lick it off try letting it sink as much as possible by keeping the pet distracted from licking the area. Or you can loosely bandage the area for about one hour after applying the oil and then remove the bandage so the air can get to the area. A clean and open air environment is important for healing. Spray the area of the belly and inside the hind quarters frequently with a half and half mixture of distilled water and apple cider vinegar to prevent the growth of yeast. Any dog that suffers from frequent itching is suffering from a damaged immune system. A better grade of food that does not contain carbohydrates such as corn and other grains should be fed as well as a supplement that will support the immune system even if the pet has environmental allergies. Many times vets are finding that it is the purebreds and dogs that have been bred with purebreds that are having some of the worst allergy problems. Purebreds that have not been bred with the greatest of care to the genetic background of the animals can end up with defective immune systems as well as physical genetic defects of the internal organs.
