EXTREMELY informative video!!!!!!! I'm driving 70 miles tomorrow to pick up my new 2021 Crosstrek Limited so I've been watching lotsa videos. I LAUGHED out loud at the lady's freeze frame and sleezy music at 1:26. BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!

I have cool trick. Hold HOME and hit the TUNE wheel twice. This brings up a secret menu. Hit Camera, then hit Camera Settings. You can turn on the camera whenever you want. Remove the steering angle lines remove the distance lines. It remembers that and keeps them hidden. If you tow a 5x8 utility trailer, it tends to set my mind at ease. HOME + TUNE x2 > bottom option > bottom option. Fisheye camera whenever you want. All your XM buttons still work and your phone shit too. Note: I have the cheap one. Not the manual, but the one cheaper than this one.

Nice, that top center screen is my favorite. I have it setup to show calender date, water temp, and oil temp. Then i got the drivers side monitor to show km/h and speed limit. Its a dorks dream.

First time here. Need a tutorial like this. Helped a little. Have 2018 Crosstrek and still getting to know its ins and outs. Would rather you explained more about the various screen settings. Also, a suggestion: Pause a little longer after you make a point or show a how to. You flip through so fast and then zip onto the next thing so that it is hard for someone trying to learn to give it time to sink in. Remember, you already know but those of us watching do not and so it takes time to soak it in. BTW, I did subscribe. (Can you answer questions about updating Maps? I've downloaded into a 2.0 16gb USB but when I plug it into the media port inside the console nothing initiates. I've re-downloaded the update twice more.

Yea, I believe the premium/limited trims get more of the customizing. So we sold the Crosstrek two years ago. Had it for almost four years. It was absolutely excellent. Not one single issue with the car. Kept up with maintenance/oil changes. I've had probably eight Subarus over the past 12 years. The only one that gave me severe issues was my 2013 STI, and that was 10000% due to the terrible tuning that was done. All the others gave me zero issues or surprises. My wifes Impreza hatch did have one issue where the multimedia screen would just go blank and reboot every once in awhile. That was just a software issue, and was covered under warranty. I swear by Subarus, especially up here in New England.

Hi, thanks for the great video. I have a 2019 Impreza and my android auto/carplay automatically disconnects after sometime. I have to replug my device to get it back, but it disconnects after a short while. Tried every possible solution found on the internet as very limited resources available for impreza. Do you also experience similar problem or I'm the only one here.

2.55 - be aware that the speed limit is what the tom tom thinks it is or was. that info is not loaded from the cameras unlike the volvo which reads road speed limits and picks up the limits for example road works going on etc

What are you trying to setup? I don’t believe there is any customizability in the grid/guidelines. I believe you can either turn them on or off and dim/brighten the color.

Do you mean video as in MP4/Streaming/DVD/etc.? If so, there is no way to do this via a factory option, due to safety/liability restrictions. However, there are ways around this via some time of coding/tuning to allow you to play videos at all times. Not sure what systems allow you to do this off the top of my head, but I know there are modules out there that exist. Definitely recommend checking out a forum for this vehicle as I am certain this questions and solution has been posted.

How do you do this for a 21 Ascent? There’s no “info” button. In its place is a phone/talk button.

On the top of the center stack multimedia section, you will se two arrows (up/down) and in the center of that there should be a "View" button. When you shuffle thru the screen options and land on the "Push and Hold button" screen, just hold the "View" button until you get into the adjust settings menu. That should open up all the available settings similar to the Crosstrek seen in this video, plus/minus some other options unique to the Ascent. Hope that helps!

Either your fuse went out or the speakers are dead. I would say bring it into the dealer and see if they can look into it. Do you still have warranty?

Good walkthrough but you should have also touched on how to adjust the gauge cluster settings. Like swapping out to PSI from the factory setting from kPa.

The only way to do so is to press and hold on an icon/app for a few seconds until it lets you freely move the button. It should work if you have this same multimedia system.

How do I change my default weather location. Unable to delete it. Also, although set driver seat to retract upon entering vehicle,seat doesn’t move when reenter vehicle. Now if I put seat all the way back manually upon exiting, it will readjust to my setting upon getting back into vehicle.

I have the same question concerning the weather location. My default location is set to 60 or 70 miles to the south, and trust me, living on top of a big hill climb the weather is very different from late fall thru early spring. The manual is useless. Even the index helps very little.

On the front display between the gages there is a warning that tells me to keep my eyes on the road. I drove a tractor trailer for 45 years (retired). I use peri feral vision to drive the vehicle a lot because I was hauling over sized loads. So I’m used to driving this way. Is there a way to turn off this warning permanently?

From what I understand there should be a button to disable this feature located near an auto start/stop button in the vehicle. If this is not available, I believe disabling the eyesight system fully would turn this sensor off. I don’t recommend disabling eye sight.

Good video, thanks. Does anyone know how to set the radio/sound system to automatically lower the volume when you exit off a highway and stop at a traffic light? I've had cars 15 years ago that had this feature, and was user adjustable as well. I have the HK sound system too (2021 Forester), which was a pricy extra. I'm guessing the setting is in there somewhere. Please help. Thanks.

I believe the “Maps” app is part of the upgraded multimedia system. With the larger screen and sound system upgrade it should be available. Otherwise with apple carplay you can use maps on the multimedia screen.

Depends on which sound system you have in the car? The Harmon Kardon sound system in my limited Crosstrek is fantastic right out the box. The base sound system in my Impreza, however is terrible, but I wasn't expecting a great system with just a few speakers in the car. You can adjust the treble/bass/etc in the sound settings in the infotainment, but that is about it.

Thank you so much for this tutorial, very helpful. Maybe you could share if there is a setting somewhere that will allow me to see the speedometer while I'm on a Bluetooth phone call. I am often on the phone while driving and instead of being able to see my speedometer, the display shows "Call in Progress". Thanks again! 😁

If you do not have the upgraded infotainment package/screen then it would not be available. The top LCD screen should still be available.

Hi, I may be late to the party, but I just recently bought my 2019 Crosstrek, limited, no Hardon Karmon or Navigation. I had no problem following your instructions to change the favorites (great video by the way) and I changed one, but I am not finding the compass or speed limit as options. Any idea why or how to get them? Also, just as an FYI - you can have the oil temp on any of them (left, middle or right), but if it or any of them are in one spot, they won’t appear as options in either of the other two. You would have to take it off one, then you would be able to add it to another (say if you’re really anal like me and like symmetry) - so I wanted to move mine around a bit. But mostly I would really love to be able to add the Speed Limit. Thanks for any help you can provide.

When you say mirror link, do you mean like apple CarPlay/android auto? Or do you mean the Subaru starlink? You can connect via usb/Bluetooth and do apple CarPlay with this car. I have done it. You just need to grant access on your phone and connect to the car.

Hey there, I have a question for you. Any idea why I can't get into settings by pressing and holding the INFO button? When i just press the INFO button, it does toggle between screens. Im also aware that you should not be in the settings screen on your combination meter display at the same time. Just wondering if you have any idea. Thanks.

Hey, what settings are you looking for specifically? There should be three screens to toggle. One would be if you hold the info for the secondary screen and that should give you the ability to change the display and metrics. The other would be located in the center multimedia display settings section, which will let you toggle a few display settings as well. The other would be thru the driver wheel for the center gauge display when you hold INFO I believe it is, and you can switch thru a few settings there. If it doesn't allow you to get to any settings by holding INFO then it might be related to trim level and/or multimedia package level.

@NEMotoGuy Hello. I'm talking about the MFD display. The one in the center of the dash by the windshield. That one does wor as far as getting info from the vehicle. I can then scroll through different screens by pressing the INFO button on the right of the steering wheel controls. When I get to the screen that says "to enter screen settings press and hold INFO" I do press and hold INFO button and it never gets into settings. The settings where you can customize your 3 gauge display, add bdays, add maintenance schedulle. This is all on my 18 crosstrek base that I did a high grade MFD swap along with the high grade combination meter swap. Combination meter swapped works and I can get to it's setting no problem. Its the settings in the high grade MFD that I can't get to. Hope that explains a little more.

What model/trim vehicle do you have? The one in the video is a 2019 Crosstrek Limited, which comes with all the bells and whistles. The navigations, sound system upgrade, eyesight and all creatures comfort options to be able to toggles all the extra settings.

I don't know if you can get this code without going to the dealer. They have to update/unlock this at the dealership before you drive off with the car. I would schedule a time with your dealer to fix this. They should be able to do it quick, with no charge.

My 2021 Forester Sport had the weather option on the top dash screen and now randomly I don’t have that option anymore, do you or anyone know why I can’t get that to show up and how to get it back? And also when I cycle through all three “box’s” there’s no weather option it’s just blank where it should be showing the 3hr or 6hr PLEASE HELP IF YOU KNOW WHY!!! TIA

I have two theories. 1) Your subscription to the Starlink service has expired, and you no longer get live data, or 2) Subaru sent out an update to your system and that may have changed something. I am leaning towards option 1 most likely. Let me know if that is in fact the reason you are having that issue?

@@CTMMONEY19 No worries, glad I could help. Yes, you should just be able to re-subscribe one your trial ended. I believe if you just contact a number on there or possible google starlink subscription it should lead you to getting in contact with the provider to re-activate your account. Might be even easier than that, haven't done it in awhile myself.

When I connect maps to CarPlay it lags really bad is there anyway to fix that?

That’s interesting. Does the app have the most recent updates? If anything, try removing CarPlay from your phone, and then re-sync your phone to the car. Is it by Bluetooth or usb link? The Bluetooth might be providing a poor signal.

That is strange. Do you have a US spec Crosstrek? Also, do you have the upgraded infotainment and sound system? I am trying to research right now to see if this is specific to Limited trim only, however I don't think that would be the case. The oil temp would only be in the first triple gauge bucket option. Sifting through the entire list you still do not see oil temp meter?

@@gloriarubalcaba6176 I don't think it would affect the triple gauge cluster, however it was just a thought. Do you have the Hardon Karmon sound system? That would indicate if you have the upgraded infotainment unit. I will keep digging in the meantime.

There is a set of buttons on the steering wheel that control this screen. It is specific to the dashboard screen. Should be an up/down arrow and an "INFO" style button in the middle.

The Premium and Limited models are CD players. This is a single CD player.

@@NEMotoGuy Do you know the sizes of the speakers in the Impreza, I was considering upgrading the factory and adding a subwoofer does the Impreza have an amplifier big enough to add one 12" woofer or does it only have an amp for the factory speakers?

@@brendan6093 Honestly not sure the size of the speakers in the base Impreza. From what I could tell they look like small tweeters, and only a handful in the base. The premium/limited and up get the better Harmon Kardon with an upgraded amp I believe. I couldn't find much detail other than that unfortunately.
