Thank you, I didn't expect to get it back!👍😁 Love the design, and I hope you enjoy the Moldavite, you don't have to send that one back. You did a phenomenal job with the challenges of this stone.👍I will have to find a setting for this, but I know the jeweler in town so if I have it set, I'll send the pic of it.😁

Thanks Jason. I'm glad the gem held together. It's not perfect as the divots and the rutile plays up with the final polish. I had a feeling that the rutile would have some effect on the cutting and polishing. I will have to try cerium next time on rutile. Cheers Cliff

Nice job with a difficult stone, Cliff. I like your decision to leave the thick girdle. It really enhances the amount of rutile within the stone. Thanks much for the video... Always a pleasure to watch you work.
@VintageTimeGems

The plan was to have a thicker girdle to retain as much rutile as possiible. Cheers Cliff

I do have another chunk of rutilated quartz that weighs 1264.5 ct, it has gold and copper coloured rutile in it. Also one more that I have has only copper coloured rutile in it, and it weighs 488.5 ct.😁 So if you want any more, I think I have plenty.😊

The large ones takes ages. Probably take a month to facet one of those large ones. I learnt a lot from faceting the piece you sent me. If I had my time again I would be inclined to polish with cerium oxide. There a small black pits on the surface which is caused by the bubbles and the rutile. I think the prism effect looks great through. Cheers Cliff

Amazing. I like the 3D fractal 6 pointed star the facets create. I prefer this type of gem (i.e. not for sparkle).

When I first saw the raw crystal I thought it would be a shame to cut it, but I see I was wrong to think that. You really enhanced the natural beauty of the stone with that cut. What a beauty!

That type of rough should be tumbled / cabbed or faceted. I was already sliced and semi polished anyway.

It was challenging. I think that polishing with cerium may be a better option, but for the amount of inclusions it had it still held together and looks good. Regards Cliff

I love the cut you did on this stone..I think with the thin strands inside it looks quite mystical ,it would look beautiful made into a piece of jewellery with either green,blue or red gemstones around it ,will compliment it beautifully,even yellow stones..Loved watching it come to life 😀

What a lovely gem! This must be the first time I see this kind of quartz as a faceted gem, until now I have only seen it as a cabochon, or even a sphere (I know, I know, I'm a noob). Thanks for sharing this, and thanks to Jason too!

Hex cuts are typically not a favourite. Tablet cuts serve a specific purpose. I personally prefer deep pavs and crowns with a high profile.
