The measuring and centering the marks to cut was great. Cutting the tile in half was not necessary, none the less I still learn from this video. Thumbs up either way knowledge is power 👍

Over the years, I have learned a lot from KZfaq and always use the comments as a yardstick to gauge whether or not the person I'm watching is on the ball, or full of crap. I think there must be different ways of going about what you did here--either by cutting the tile in half, or by drilling a hole with a diamond bit, or some other method. I'm approaching my first floor tile project, and am rather nervous about it. While I'm sure your method may not be perfect, it mostly makes sense to this relatively experienced DIYer. I may need to adjust the technique to fit my (teeny, irregular) space, but this gives me one more tool in my belt. Please, keep on making great (and free, haters!) content, and don't let the mean turkeys in the peanut gallery get you down. You've had a part in knocking my confidence up a notch. I truly appreciate it.

I'd use a cardboard template to mark on the tile where to cut the hole. They have tile hole saws why cut in 2 pieces?

Measure tile like he has done but then once you have a square draw corner to corner so you have a cross in the middle that gives you centre then use a correct diamond tip hole cutter job done

What?? I've never seen this before. OK I guess if a vanity or other fixture is hiding it.

The idea was not to make circle hole in the middle of the tile. Image what would you do if instead of this little pipe, you had a pipe of central heating??? Then making only a hole in tile would not work. But the idea of splitting the tile, and then reassembling it was great.

We just cut a square on pipes but do not draw lines we do it just by eye trust. We do transfer the measures on the back to cut from the back

"Almost invisible",,,but not really. Also not really waterproof. Better to but a diamond tipped hole saw, the right sized, or used a small, carbide drill bit to cut several, small holes around the perimeter of the hole and break out the circle.

That's a terrible way of doing it. Mark the hole exact centre by drawing corner-to-corner lines in the resultant square and then cut using a tile hole cutter. No need to snap the tile in two and have a broken tile!

This was disappointing as it leaves a cut line right through the tile. I was expecting use of a hole saw for professional job.

smh! that cut tile will look awful, unless you apply some filler in crack and paint it with paint that matches tile, a hole saw would be better but they cost around 30 bucks, so this method may be better if you don't have a hole cutter

How not to cut tiles around pipes....

I liked the method for marking the center of where the hole goes, but than when he cut it in half instead of using a hole saw I thought this was a re-run of the Benny Hill show. The only thing missing was the Saxophone playing Yackety Axe and some chick with big boobs helping. Are hole saws banned in the U.K. cause they might drill a hole in somebody cause they banned guns?

I’m confused why you held the tile up to mark the wall when you could have marked the time at the same time at very least. Hey I have an idea. Buy a 2” diamond hole saw. It’s like $25-$65 and if you’re doing work that is even half decent you better have a little coin to invest. It will speed your process up dramatically and give a FAR better result than this junk

really disappointing to find the video recommends cutting the tile in half , much much better to drill pilot hole in centre of pipe marks and then cut to size using correct size diamond tipped drill bit.....if you're going to do a job , do it well !

you never split a tile for a hole, this is really bad, especially with todays hole saw are so cheap to buy to make a perfect hole. this video should be banned on youtube. and the cut around the pipe was too rough , sadly this video had so much potential.

The video has nothing about its title!!! How to Cut Tiles! The whole idea of watching was to find out how to 'CUT', not how to 'MEASURE'. But why not show the cutting? Anyone can measure where a hole goes.

This is insanity. Who splits a tile just to cut around a pipe? Do this and your tile job will look terrible. Just use a diamond tile drill bit or a diamond blade on your angle grinder. Then use a metal file to smooth the edges if you want the hole to be perfect.
