My best picks for merengue music - If you want the very fast merengues, try songs like "La Morena" by Oro Solido or "El Baile del Perrito" by Wilfrido Vargas. If you want to do slower version merengues, things like "El Tiburon" by Proyecto Uno or even Pop--Tropical songs like "Dale pa'lla, dale pa'aca" by Mestizzo (or "Tongoneo" by the same group) are good merengue songs to dance to. Even some cumbia-themed/vallenato themed numbers like "La Gota Fria" (Carlos Vives) are 'merengue-able" if you want to dance the slower merengues.

Hello. I'm not saying you taught this wrong but did you maybe teach the Puerto Rican style? Because when I look up "How to dance merengue Dominican ", it's not like this. They stay leading/ accenting with one foot and don't switch.
