Ms. Blockhead (aka: Ms. Santa!) was awesome enough to buy me some motorcycle parts for Christmas! One of those parts; 'Daymaker' style LED Headlight for the Harley Iron 883!
I've had this on my wish list for a bit, so it's awesome that she got this for me as a gift! She said that it's a "matter of safety," b/c I can see better and other people can see me better. Hey, I'm not arguing with that logic, truth!
In this How To, I walk through this super easy install. It took all of about 10 minutes, and the hardest part was getting the wiring to fit behind the headlight. Although I foresee the hardest part becoming keeping it straight and level in the housing in the future. We'll see!

Hey, thanks for the video. Didn’t realise how easy the install was after I’ve already put the grill on. My HD Iron 883 Alarm behaves funny now when I turn the ignition on. Does it need to adjust to the new LED light? Your advice would be much appreciated. 👊blockheads

Yo Blockhead, How is your Daymaker holding up? is it throwing errors? I bought one from amazon a few months ago, it was working fine for a few miles and after that the high beam lights up on my instrument panel. I ended up returning the knockoff daymaker. I'm just wondering if there are additional things to do or add to prevent errors. Thanks always ride safe

international versions of the same bike must have drl lights, I noticed that I have two extra cables that hook up to the headlight below the plug and play socket. what should I do to these?

Yo blockman- got my 883 today and got a wismec light for it. Long story short, any idea of Harley changes the headlight chassis dimensions often? As due to the heat sink and the cable/bulky plug on the back of the headlight, I can't find the room to push the headlight in, and I'm left unable to actually install the bastard! within the UK we require sidelights/parking lights so we have 2 extra connectors that take up space in there That attach to the stock bulb. Whereas the stock light has the input plug within the body of the headlight itself- so everything fits perfectly, any ideas? 😞

Manny Acino 1 second ago I recently purchased a ( Wisamic 5-3/4" 5.75" Round LED Projection Daymaker Headlight for Harley Davidson Motorcycles 9 pcs Bulb) for my Dyna. I removed the stock assembly then plugged in the new LED light. It lights when the switch is in the low beam setting. However, I get no light at all when I turn the switch to the high beam setting. I removed the LED and replaced the halogen bulb. The bulb lights in low beam and it switches to high beam when I move the handlebar switch to high. I used a tester and confirmed that the socket on the bike has power to both low and high beam settings. The LEDight has the exact same male connector as the halogen light bulb, should plug and work, right? Am I doing something incorrectly? PS This is the second Wisamic 5-3/4" 5.75" Round LED Projection Daymaker Headlight for Harley Davidson Motorcycles 9 pcs Bulb I have tried to install with the exact same results. The one I have now is a replacement for the first one I purchased. SAME ISSUE Please respond

Installed the same light on my 2011 48. Was as easy as you said it was. I am curious about one thing however. That is, the "cover" or fairing / visor you have over the headlight itself. Not the grille, but the plastic looking piece that extends forward over / above the headlight. Did it come with your 883? If not (or even if it did) what is it called and where can I get one? Not sure, I think you can check fitment on Amazon. So long as the light diameter is the same, I believe it should :)

I know this is an old video, but I'm looking for some help, I replaced my headlight with a LED one and the lamp has never fit in properly after that. I've tried to install the headlight exactly as it was before lining up the retainer and everything but it is never absolute snug and always has some wiggle to it. I'm on a 2009 Sportster 1200C

quick question. first off love the bike I have an 883 its a 2010 and also my first bike. I have many upgrades like 16" Roland Sands ape, whitewalls, and also the V&H Big Radius. That Daymaker, is that the one from a HD dealer or off of Amazon. I really want one but really don't want the one off of Amazon

The light is the LED Headlight off of Amazon, the link to the specific one I installed is in the description as well (has the highest and most ratings out of all the "Daymaker" style headlights on Amazon.) If you don't want the one off of Amazon, the other alternative is to put up the money for the one from Harley @ a nice $399.95! I don't believe I've seen any other brands or retailers selling them, but try a Google search. Best of luck, and thank you for the support!

I purchased Motorcycle 5.75" 5 3/4 LED Headlight Projector For Dyna Sportster XL1200 and it has a “halo” DRL/Signal ring with 2 wires but I’m unsure where I hook and/or splice these wires as the build itself was plug n play...would anyone know where I would hook these 2 wires? Installing on a 2017 HD Superlow 1200T

Not sure, mine tucked right in. Was a bit longer than from the stock headlight, but managed to fold it all around inside. Maybe zip ties? *shrug*

It's a light problem... Usually a solid red light means to change your lights. I got the same problem when I use the hi beams but it disappears after I turn them off. My guess is that the high beams use too much power but it's a guess.

Hey man.. I have a 2000 sportster 883. I am trying to install a LED daymaker but theres not enough space inside the headlamp housing because of all the wires in there. Any tips on how to make that work?

Not sure, I barely had enough space on the 2013, just have to tuck the wiring and harness in there so it sits perfectly behind the fins of the light. Took a little bit to get it right.

Hey Block! Great videos!... I just installed the Grill Cover... but my headlight keeps moving around... seeing your video... you have a ring that keeps it in place... where did you get that part? I went for a ride without noticing it and now my Daymaker is scratched...

Thanks, glad you enjoy the vids! The ring that helps to keep it in place was already in the headlight, comes with the bike (or should have.) Not sure what model / year you have, but on the 2013 Iron 883, it's stock.

Haven't had that happen on mine. Sounds like yours might not be sealed up correctly. Contact the seller and let them know, maybe they'll send you a new one. I live in FL and it's humid AF, and haven't had that problem.

I was wondering this also. I just tried to install this daymaker to my dyna and have the same problem. I was eventually able to put it on, but it's not closed fully, instead there's a small gap underneath the headlamp. It feels tight, but I'm worried it will come lose one day. I also had the two extra wires, I just ignored them :D

The 2 extra wires is for the parking light. I believe you can just ignore them. I went this afternoon to the dealership to order a parking light bulb as mine is fused. I believe the parking light will not make that big difference. I am watching quite a few videos recently and I am also thinking about ordering the daymaker light.

Quick Off topic question, does a new Exhaust system improve your bike performance or is a slip on enough? thinking of getting one for my iron. & wanted to hear your opinion or experience regarding that, if its cool.

Exhaust system is supposed to improve your performance by a little bit, yes. However, the fuel controller makes more of a difference than the actual exhaust I believe. As for slip ons, I'm not sure to be honest, as I didn't really look into them since I wanted a full system. Try checking out HD Forums, wealth of knowledge on there!

Yea, been researching a lot about it. Dude, yours is the best looking one and it sounds sick AF. i Just got the 2017 iron and thats the first thing i'm gonna install. the Stock one makes no sound pretty much.. too dangerous.. being all blacked out too, they wont see me at all

Blockhead, If this light holds up reasonably well, it is a miracle at $50! So, after about a half year, how are these doing on your bike? There are now many other high-quality, low cost options (ex: Hogwartz), but none of them approach the $50 level. I'm totally looking forward to being more visible! I'm on a 2004 orange/white Roadster.....and went to UCF (as well as Univ. of Fla)

Just there is a minor difference in the 2016 sportster model there are more cables inside not just for the main light. If you see a small bulb under the main headlight from inside that means you have few extra cables. For the day running lights.

My 2009 Nightster has this low beam bulb seperate from the main (high beam) connections. Meaning when installed I have no low beam 😓

H there! First thing first: thanks for the video! I installed the same headlight on a HD Iron 2015 model but I have several problems: after like 20-30 miles the high indicator turn on for no reason and the red led on the gauge turn on too. If I turn the ignition off it usually fix itself but I really dont know why its happening. Shall I take the main fuse out/in, redo the assembling? Anyone experienced the same problem? Cheers!

Hello, sir! Hoping you will see this comment! I installed this LED headlight in my Iron, but after sometime riding, the high beam led and alarm led turn on, and I receive codes b2132 and b2137. I know this video was from many years ago, but, did you get this problem with your bike, or had you heard about anyone else with this problem?

Is the high light flickering without you having the high beam switch on? If so, it sounds like something up with your switch or the wiring.

LightningHits2x just installed a wisamic LED on my 2017 Iron. Fits and it works. Just remember to put the plug ear the bottom of the light. It’s a tight fit but it fits.

Put some foam tape between the light and the ring that goes around it, tightens it up just enough to keep it seated!

Why the 4:33am comment? Haha, I schedule the vids to show up early in the mornings, early enough that if people are checking KZfaq and stuff while on their commutes to work or just doing their rounds in the morning, the vid is up and ready. And yeah, the grille is entirely aesthetic, but I like it, so for now it's there. If I get tired of it, easy to take off and replace w/ the stock ring / clamp :)

Everyone asks if he is okay? Fuck him! Is the bike okay? No! Didn't do insurance claim because I don't want to fuck up my perfect record. I just paid cash and traded up: 2017 Lowrider S. Over-nighted some new short shots and an FP3. We'll have to go riding sometime!
