MINT Playing Cards: 52kards.com/Mint
Have you ever seen the way that professional dealers deal cards to players across the table from them? This is a dealing technique known as "sailing cards" and allows you to deal cards long distances and with accuracy.
It's a useful card skill to learn if you enjoy playing card games and also if you're interested in learning false dealing techniques. If you want to be able to do second deals or bottoms deals, then often times you will do these deals while sailing the cards to someone sitting across the table from you in the context of a magic trick or gambling routine.

The most phenomenal black jack dealer I ever saw sailed cards to 7 players and he would throw the card to his left somehow and have it boomerang around past all the players to land in front of the 7th player on his right. Really beautiful. Never saw a card flip over or go off the table. This was double deck in Las Vegas, off the strip.

I have a TON of respect for you as a magician and a teacher. Having said that, It is not good to get into the habit of using an Erdnase Grip for straight dealing. Most advanced level bottom deals are being done from the mechanics grip these days anyway. I would never question you on Magic...but this is something I have years of experience with. Keep up the great work...I enjoy your channel.

Hey Asad, I'm working as a dealer for some time now and I instead of using the ring finger, I use the middle finger for flicking. It does work for me and there's no need to change it, but what do you think about the two methods, did you try both and found that using the ring finger works better?
@52kards
@52kards 7 жыл бұрын
+Sliverer I think for magicians/technicians using the ring finger is better for flicking because when doing bottom deals you need the middle finger to contact the bottom card of the deck.

Viktor Godaly there are a ton of grips for false deals. A video won't really help too much. You need to find a grip, And practice regular dealing in it ridiculously. These grips are actually pretty hard to deal from, so you need to have it down pat before you try any false deals. In the end, a video won't really help unless the grip is specified and universal with your understanding, And you all ready have your deal down. I recommend learning from Ed Marlo's "Seconds Centers and Bottoms". It is found in Revolutionary Card Technique, which is a great, one of the best, magic books out there (You may be able to find a standalone version, but You'll get 3 volumes of the false dealing along with 11 other entire "books" that are in Revolutionary Card Technique). Marlo teaches you the Master Grip and Deal, which makes all 3 deals look the same and just like a regular deal. The problem with a lot of other grips is that the grip changes between 2nds, bottoms, centers, And fair deals. Marlo s grip is always the same. Another grip you can try is Daniel Madison's Madison grip, which he teaches in his book "How to cheat at cards". This book is a lot cheaper than Revolutionary Card Technique, but it has a lot less overall magic info, And a lot more gambling magic (false deals, cops, deck switches etc.). But if you want to learn how to false deal, it's a good book, And it costs on $15 for the Pdf.

Tyata Smrat Expert at the Card Table is not a beginner level book, nor are most of the things in it. In fact, if you don't already have a basic knowledge of gambling moves, and are not willing to put in a great deal of time in studying it, its pretty much garbage. Besides that, Erdnase only spends 2 pages on the bottom deal, and 2 on the second deal. It also isn't the best method,

Are you pitching the card with your ring finger because you might need the middle finger for... 'other'... reasons? (Seconds, etc.) I think Vegas dealers are taught to pitch with the middle finger, likely to prevent that very thing.

@mikeymccaffrey86 7 жыл бұрын
you need to practice "pitching"(not sailing) without moving your wrist, its one of the few rules that you MUST fallow when you deal, like if you flick with your middle finger or something its no big deal but you want to keep your wrist still at all times (im not trying to be condescending sorry if it comes across that way)

Except in the high limit room, the cards are machine shuffled (and for most games the machine scans and spits out each person's cards, so even if they switch cards to win, they will be caught). So I have no control over the cards. But who do the players blame when they lose? Not the machine. "How am I supposed to win if the dealer keeps giving me shit cards." "This dealer is always trying to kill me". "I was doing great until this dealer came along. Fuck this dealer." Plus, being a proficient card mechanic has very little overlap with being a working casino dealer.
