Thanks, Mike and Yancy. Please keep up these educational sessions. I’ve been watching every week and they are great! If you want a future segment idea, a session on interior cleaning and the PH scale would.be great. I would like to see something abougt how to use the right chemical combinations to use stains from carpets and upholstery and then leave the surface in a PH neutral state so it doesn’t brown and attract more dirt.

How to tell the difference between micro marring and scratches that were left over from the original swirls? I did a test panel and it got out what looks like 90% of the swirls but there's some light scratches left behind and idk if it's just little deeper scratches or if it's micro marring.

i need help. Im stuck on a black bmw. I cut and polish, everything is spotless until I wipe the polish off with every microfiber towel I can get my hands on and it still causes micro marring and big swirls to come back. Even rubbing my finger gently on the clear coat leaves swirls and marring. The towels are brand new either costco brand kirkland or chemical guys plush edgeless. I have used 3m compound, step 2 to step 3 finishing fine polish and also tried chemical guys v32 and v38. Pads I use are orange hexlogic for cutting or meguiars microfiber pad with my rupes mark 3 and griots garage red orbital. polish pads are either green, black, or white hexlogic pads. Been stuck on this car for a week and never had this issue before. I am working in a 20-22 degree celcius environment in my shop. bright lights everywhere. Even used a rotary with wool pad or black waffle pad to change my approach to see whats causing it. Maybe the clear coat is too soft? as soon as i wipe, all the defects pop up all over again after a nice correction.

You need to do lots of test spots then. Maybe your'e working too fast, maybe too slow try different pressures, do more or less section passes. Use and IPA to wipe down and see the true result. Maybe you should try something like Car Pro Essence or Sonax Final, these polishes have very little cut like 1 on a scale. Also using smaller orbit machines may also help to achieve a good finish.

Are the defects you're trying to remove coming back, or are you creating new ones? If they're disappearing and coming back, the paint is swelling during correction. Either too much heat, or a chemical is causing it. Aggressive panel wipes tend to be the culprit, but even certain solvents in polishes can react badly once in awhile on certain paints. If the defects are new, is the towel causing the swirls or the polish? Do your polish wipe off moving your towel in one direction only. Up and down or left and right. If you have straight line scratches it's the towel. Buy and use brand new Eagle Edgeless high gsm towels and try those. Circular swirls, it's the pad and liquid and you need to step down further. Use a standard throw DA and a primer polish like Gyeon Primer, CarPro Essence. Or a soft paint specific polish like Xtreme Solutions LVR 496 Finale. Finale and (of all things) the red Hex pads, which are even *softer* than normal application pads are my secret combo for the worst of the soft finnicky paint. Along with using McKee's N914 at panel prep dilution, 1:8, to lubricate the polish removal and gently prep the surface.

3 or 4 "slow" sections passes on a toyota is more then enough with a medium polish like sonax perfect finish and orange pad. 8 fast passes are silly.

yes im confused. I watch some detailers and thehy follow the steps youre saying with 3 to 4 small drops of polish then i watch this and hes saying double the amount of polish and section passes. So which is it??

I polish/buff cars on weekends, What machine would you recommend for that? I'm wanting to upgrade soon. I have the TORQX at the moment, I've been looking at the TORQ15DA and the RUPES. I've also heard the flex is really good? Which one would you recommend for me? Thanks.

I compound and waxed my car back in the day by hand, but a true beginner using a polisher. I currently have a 2015 audi a8 3.0 have door scratches swirl marks because of the car wash bird drop scratch and a deep scratch on rooftop by the antenna. Sonax are great products what cut should i use as a beginner

It would be nice to see the physical results of your work up close whether that's in the form of a GoPro or another small recording device. Otherwise, it feels like I'm sitting through a college lecture.
