How do you handle high balls to your tennis forehand? The two most common ways are to either let the ball drop back into your strike zone by moving back or to hit the ball on the rise. I'm showing you both options including the correct footwork patterns and what your best tactical options are for both choices.

@@MeikeBabelTennisYes, slice is one good option. Look forward to that upcoming video and the options to also drive it back with the onehander. I never learned the two-hander but keep hearing that two handers deal better. Not clear why a twohander is superior for dealing with high balls.

1:14 I notice this all the time with my students at the rec level. I also tell them to back up. But they are so afraid of the short ball. I tell them that at their level they don't get dropshotted (not a word). But they indeed do get these accidental short balls. Mishits etc. Still I try to explain they will eventually win a lot more points backing up and taking the ball after it's highest point when it's coming down.
@MeikeBabelTennis
@MeikeBabelTennis Жыл бұрын
I think the key is that they come back to the baseline after dropping back. Don't get stuck at the back fence.
@sergiosimbula
@sergiosimbula Жыл бұрын
@@MeikeBabelTennis that too, but most of my recreational lower level students actually tend to position themselves inside the court and don't even back up to the baseline after a shorter ball (approach is also to scary but teach that too of course). So they get stuck in nomans land.

@MeikeBabelTennis

The ball has really high pace right off the bounce and is hard to control. The change of direction is tough enough of a regular ball so keeping it cross court is higher %

My first question is do you hit it between shoulder and hip. Often times, when you hit it above your shoulder the racket face is open and that's why the balls go deep.

@@MeikeBabelTennis Great, have fun. Btw i love your videos, clear and very detailed explenations with a good vibe and great energy from beginning to end of these longer instructions. Me myself i was eyeing with the VCore Pro 100. I bought a ProKennex already cause i have arm problems since 4 weeks, wrist and shoulder pain, from overuse. I know you have also shoulder problems, is the Ezone as comfortable as the Vcore Pro? Maybe you can make a comparison video for these 2 rackets. But i wish that you would do a video for player with arm problems. What are the essential things we need to look for after injury and before restart with plating? Equipment wise: whats important, static weight or swingweight? Lighter or heavier racket? Low RA stiffness and higher twistweight important? Which strings to pair it with? Does a soft racket work with soft strings or is this too much of a downgrade? But also some tipps for rebeginning on the court, what to look for? Which drills are important or what else can one do on the technic to not reintroduce the pain? Thanks, greetings from Stuttgart.

Hi really good couple of strategies to deal with those high balls.... is there merit in a third riskier option , when playing against fast players who come in behind their shot I have found that instead of waiting for the ball to drop, moving in , especially if they didn't get it deep enough , and charge the ball and take it mid air which takes more time away from your opponent but also takes time away from you ,so you have to be committed right from the start to get to the ball. Sometimes this can shakeup the player as they have far less time to react.Thanks peter
