I talk about a specific kind of fatigue I have found both myself and others in this hobby experience.

Drink beer, eat pretzels, kill goblins, sounds like a good session to me. RPGs are basically our version of hanging out at the local dive bar.

Hell, the winstate of one of my campaigns was that the players ended up RUNNING one

I've definitely felt this, particularly where the other players liked RPGs but really consider themselves more "tabletop gamers" more than "roleplaying gamers". We've recently switched to playing board games online, which has the added benefit of being able to socialize during play without disrupting the game. RPGs, due to their nature, don't always lend themselves to that sort of parallel chat.

I've definitely had fatigue as a player. It's normally me being tired from work and being washed out for a game; I've had a couple of games where I've played differently to how I've normally played because I've been tired.

"If you can all work together to make the story better, that is what makes the best games" nailed it bud. Well said

I've used the "I'm stuck, give me an idea" method in my current game, and it's pretty great!

lol I love it. "I'm sure there is a very long German word for it". heh. I like Micro Fatigue as a term though, definitely players and GMs feel this. What I tend to do is take a small break ( a couple weeks) or just try to change tracks and do something different as a player or GM. We've done things like instead of running my campaign, we'd play a board game. Fatigue as a forever GM for decades was a thing. Mixing it up with playing a war or board game helps a lot to recover from a micro fatigue or larger fatigue. Edit: Almost forgot, I love the changes/improvements to pacing and editing! Thank you so much, its greatly appreciated by me and probably others. I really enjoy your videos, even more now. :) Finished watching, really good video. good advice.

I have off days and have definitely cancelled a few sessions because of it - always well before hand and usually because of a shit day at work. However, judging a game is rejuvenating for me and amps me up. I really struggle to understand this. Intellectually I get it. We are all different and I wouldn't expect everyone to be like me, but its just not a perspective I have experienced.

13:46 its interesting you say "RP is off the table" then say 3 possible choices. Because making choices, each with different consequences, is the very core of what roleplaying is. I'm focusing on the distinction between acting and roleplay because while they overlap in D&D, acting seems to get most of the credit.

For sure, that could be chalked up to poor word choice on my part because you're absolutely right that that is still roleplaying. I meant it in the informal "RP to some people is long drawn out convos" kind of way.

I have felt this. Most of the time it is over thinking. I hear people say don't have a ending planned but as a Dm do your 3 act structure and move on to another game or genre

Curious. I get to game once/week usually and run 2-3 times a week. I've never suffered burnout or fatigued. I get energized by sitting down at the table, especially running a game. It's always a ton of fun and goes by too fast for me. Been running games since 3rd first came out.
