The holidays have always been a bit stressful for me especially when working since end of month/year was always busy at work. I'm retired now so at least I only stress about what to buy everyone. I have cut way back on decorating which has helped immensely. The tree is up and decorated, garland on the mantel and wreath on the door. Done.

Christmas is a celebration and we must celebrate ourselves as well as others and be kind to ourselves. Accept and be grateful.

This beautiful video has made me question how to 'do' Christmas this year! I love Christmas but each year I find I get more and more disconnected from all the things I love about this season because I am so caught up with all the things I 'should' do. So I love giving gifts but I'm finding the whole process of finding the right present just leaves me feeling a bit empty and frustrated. You've got me thinking about how I can simplify things so I can enjoy all the lovely bits which I often struggle to find time for - eg, making a simple wreath for our door; spending a morning baking some Christmas treats; even making a few Christmas cards. Instead of buying 'things' for people - I want to re-think the whole giftng approach too. Thank you for inspiring me Jess 💝

I shop at Lidl every week and it is Christmasy - that German wonderland feel. Teas my favourite. Yes bringing in natural greenery the best and I make my door wreath from a simple bunch of greenery and a ribbon.

An American blogger had one delivered to his New York apartment stuck in a log - first time I have seen that. I have a wonderful treeholder now that just clamps on a spring to the trunk - ideal. You can never go too big with a Christmas tree. I have high ceilings but as you say it is the getting down etc but I have applied to a local hospice and volunteers will collect them for a donation.

I especially love the bow. It adds such a feminine touch. Splendid.

Ahhh I literally found myself smiling all the way through. Christmas is truly more enjoyable and meaningful when we keep it simple. One thing I'm doing is taking my 7yr old daughter to the Nutcracker ballet tomorrow, which will be such a wonderful memory for us to share and hopefully will be remembered years from now.

I am any and every Christmas caroler in any Christmas movie. It’s a small part but my favorite part of Christmas is the music. My intention is to enjoy the peace at home and keep away from crowded places. Love the tree, I wish real trees were sold here, only plastic here. I haven’t put up a Christmas tree for about 8 or 9 years now and I only take out my manger scene which I have had for 27 years.

What a lovely tree! I'm still adjusting from all the changes that occurred in the past three months. I want to slow down, to enjoy the simplicity of the festivities, and enjoy quality time with my son and simply restore my energy back 🧡 And in France, the Christmas tree always comes with a long unless special reason not to have it in a log.

I've always loved Rosemary Clooney's character from White Christmas. My intention for December is to ENJOY the season. I usually get stressed out with obligations, but this year I'm making room for fun. Taking my little girl to see the Nutcracker Ballet, booked my family for a Christmas tour of a historic house in my city, helping with the flowers at my church, getting dressed up for Christmas parties (recently embraced that I love fashion and stopped seeing it as superficial because life is short!). But keeping things simple in other areas -- buying a wreath instead of making one, using just brown paper and velvet ribbon for gift wrap, etc. In general this year I am very excited for all the festivities, but I am feeling a bit stressed about getting everything done at work as it's a busy time of year and I'm a freelancer.

I really like those lights! Warm is my preference too. I would probably be Emily from ELF

Just a lovely first vlogmas. The only decoration we use is a tree with lights and tree decorations. My star (30 years old) is made out of wood and has the word peace written on it - so important to remember both globally and as an individual for me. The bows really make your decorations! That is a beautiful big tree and love the lights and the pink bow at the top, looks so wonderful and love the wreath you purchased with the pink bow too. That Advent Calendar is a great idea with the tea and I can imagine how cozy you will be having your tea and lying in bed reading with your beautiful tree. I see hope was intrigued and watched you as you decorated. That was so largely at that Florist,, the woman that helped you carry it home and up all your stairs. What a brilliant idea having the tree put into the log and not one of those plastic stand. I love the idea of the way you just put lights on the tree and leave it natural. I will place a small tree and I too only put lights and fill my place with a couple of vases of yellow tulips and I do have a very wonderful white 1 foot high wooden trees, that I purchased when on holiday in London from the Country Living Christmas Fair man years ago, done by an artist and made beautifully. I carried that tree home in my carry-on ever so carefully and still have wonderful memories of the show and the woman that makes them each year. One person I have followed like I follow you for a few years now is Benita Larsson youtube. She lives very minimalistic and she decorates for Christmas the same way. I think you would enjoy her and her cat Bonus. Her and her son and his girlfriend have just bought a summer home in Sweden and are decorating it also. But her new apartment she just moved into, is done beautifully. She is divorced and had a health issue, with cancer, is a survivor and a very unique and gentle person. You may enjoy her and her videos. Especially her Christmas ones.

My intention this December is to rest , it’s going to be a challenge with work and friends I need to see before the holidays. But this Christmas holiday I will just cram food in my home and hibernate till the new year 😂 For decorations I always have already so much going on in my home 😆 I just add a porcelain deer and some wood ornaments to the lot 🤍🌲 I’m all for natural and wood/ classic / white /red/gold decorations ✨

Hi Jess. Tree is lovely. Can't wait to get mine up now. Hopefully next weekend. Want to really soak up the atmosphere and as you say be more present in December and all year around. Just to relax and enjoy the seasons. Need to get back on track with money as been on a spending spree lately and it's kinda fun but kinda not making me feel good about the state of my finances which is not conducive to peace of mind so must try to stop spending so much. Its clothes that I am spending on. Having said that winter coats, boots, jumpers were all needed. I'm trying to be more minimal but go better quality but it's actually a mix of lower quality and higher quality. I just go with if I like it mainly. Also, trying to swap out some skincare products to more organic and cruelty free so I love elemis cleansing balm, it works on my skin but it's not cruelty free so I've just ordered lucy bee brilliance balm to try. The florist was so sweet to help you and it makes for such a lovely memory of your first Paris Christmas tee :) The moment you mentioned which character from a Christmas movie we thought we might be, I thought about the 1985 Santa Claus: The Movie. It begins with this origin story of Santa, where he and his wife (played by wonderful Judy Cornwell) almost froze to death before being saved by the elves and brought inside in the warmth and he becomes Santa. There is this scene where Anya Claus lies under the covers in the most cozy-looking bed, feeling safe and warm at last, and she remarks "this bed is so comfortable", pronouncing the word "comfortable" with such bliss and happiness! That exact moment is such a dream to me! Lieing in the most comfortable bed, feeling completely safe and warm from the blizzard outside. Just resting and feeling content, safe and happy.

Hiya Jess . . . I have not tucked in for a full video viewing, but...had to share that Elena Taber is in Paris now on work visa and returning to school-language I believe... Anyhoo she has mentioned if people want to reach out in Paris to have their apartment captured on video...then she creates fab tours that get A LOT of views. I think you both would truly get on ... very similar in genuine approach. I get annoyed by a lot of content creators, esp in USA so am glad she is outta there for now and I only just learned of your channel this last few weeks.
