This project was really easy and fun! I used scrapbook paper, Mod Podge and two ounces of my new chalk type paint. I also show how easy it is to water distress with a damp cloth. The chair was 5$ at the flea market!

It's perfect...just the way you did it...can't wait to get your paints...using did paints from craft store...but not the same...have to take my dog to vet think he has a cactus quill in his foot he won't let me look...so my paint money is going to the dog...it's always fun living on a very small income..but painting is my happy place after my furry critters...so keep having fun ok, enjoy all the great stuff you create...thanks....

OH.EM.GEE!! I have a chair JUST LIKE that. It's been in my family for decades and I absolutely love the style. It's smaller than an average chair and I always liked sitting in it as a kid. Mine is now in desperate need of refinishing, but I plan on going a more conservative route with simple stain and sealer. Your project was totally adorable, and it has made me want to decoupage something. Wow, I have NEVER seen another one of these chairs. I can't get over it. :-)

Just found your videos(two years later) after looking at tons of tiny home videos. Why couldn't I have found videos like yours sooner? I am thrilled because you are so adorable and crafty. You remind of Katie Brown's Workshop on television. Does anyone remember her on t.v? I'm hoping to watch all your videos in the coming weeks and I love your cute cottage. Happy DIY!

I know you get a lot of comments so you will probably never see this debi's design diaries but I feel like we have so much in common. The only thing is your kinda like my "inner soul"...I'm very much an introvert and I'm so shy so I could never get on camera but you're just awesome and had to let you know this.

Use two parts paint and one part calcium carbonate and you'll get chalk style paint If you can't find calcium bicarbonate use plaster of paris instead and add a little water, however this one dries up faster.
@DebisDesignDiary
@DebisDesignDiary 9 жыл бұрын
L EH adding calcium bicarb to a latex paint will only give it a flat finish, it does not allow you to distress with a damp cloth and show several layers of color like I show in this video, nor does it dry fast adhere to slick surfaces without priming or sanding and give you the amazing coverage that this video demonstrates.
@laladyloulou

You're probably right, however chalk paint is hard to find where I live so I use this instead.

Debi's Design Diary This chair is SEW cute! ;0) How long is it before the paint can no longer be easily removed with a damp cloth? I'm just wondering how well it will holds up to regular use.
@DebisDesignDiary
@DebisDesignDiary 9 жыл бұрын
redhotsweetpotatoe about a week or two? once you seal the paint with a wax or top coat it no longer can be distressed with water. after you seal it, it's a very durable finish it can be used for cabinet doors tables tops etc :)

How does the mod podge hold up if you are actually sitting on the chair. The stuff always seems sticky even after it drys
@DebisDesignDiary
@DebisDesignDiary 9 жыл бұрын
jamiesue131 I used the formula made for furniture and haven't had that issue, not sure why yours is sticky, each project varies depending on the surface. I'm going to test how well the chair holds up to sitting, I may apply a top coat of a harder type if needed :)

@DebisDesignDiary 9 жыл бұрын
hmm Aira, I haven't tried this I guess it would depend a lot on the shoes, the fabric and where you plan to add the decoupage, i'd try the sides or places that the shoes isn't going to flex a lot if that makes sense.
