You are absolutely right about specific decopauge paper being expensive and some napkins are just as expensive. I dont have money like that so this is a wonderful asset in my creating more decopauge projects. thanks for the help

I'm excited to share a "skip a step" to this hack. I have a large thick poster I wanted to decoupage to a dresser. Your hack is going to make this so much easier. However, after two rounds of taping, cutting and peeling, I started taking the tape one length at a time andnpeeling back as I went. This avoided cutting and the time to tape the length of the poster and then returning to peel. I am sending a picture so you may get a clearer vision of what I did.

I just peel apart one corner and slowly pull the layers apart; it usually gets the two layers apart in one go; it takes a bit of practice to peel the layers apart right down the centre (you can sometimes get too close to the front or back, which may tear into the closest layer, but it's mendable - just start at another corner!).

Good for thinner scrap paper, but will be more repeat tape steps for cardstock, which is thick. I've tried it. Still great info, and I never miss your videos.

Absolutely! You could make pretty washi tape to use somewhere! If you take it off carefully, it can be used like a laminated print...

Is there a situation where you can use some of the scrapbook heavy paper or Cardstock to decoupage? Or is it always best to take off the layers? I thought it was special to napkins only because the layers would come off, but after seeing your video, I got to thinking it should be a light weight paper all the time. I'm especially thinking about wooden and cardboard cigar boxes.

It will depend on your project if you use thick paper and if it will lay flat

OK. Question. What if you do this to the backside of a "reverse graphic transfer" BEFORE gluing it the surface you're using? Less paperwork wet and rub away?

That's a lot of tape, which is very expensive, to salvage one sheet of craft paper. I do appreciate your idea though.

I agree, altho you can get decent tape for a buck and a quarter.. dollar tree. (& fwiw..I think this would more be for stuff you had already..as a way to use it..)❤

It takes a lot of tape to do this. Its great for some special paper, but i would never do it for usual projects. Its easier, and probably cheaper, to buy a napkin.

I save all my packing tape and then add it to my junk journal or my mix media projects

Why not just make a copy of the cardstock onto regular copy paper or onto the white part of a paper napkin to decoupage? Then use the cardstock for projects that need cardstock

I tried with tape ut what a waste then Idecid3d to wet the back of the scrapbook paper and used a toothbrush to scrape it lightly then I realized I could just gently rub it off with my fingers, then I put it under the ceiling fan to dry. Turned out just fine.
