upcycledecoupage.com/ Got Scrapbook paper? Lets decoupage with scrapbook paper. You can use this technique on wooden boxes, wooden letters, wooden wall hangings, all using decoupage techniques I show you in this video. Follow this how to decoupage tutorial to see how easy it is to use Scrapbook papers to decoupage. We'll use EK Tools punches, and decoupage glue, Mod Podge, Collage Pauge or your own favorite brand of decoupage glue. Scrapbook papers come in so many lovely designs and patterns. Romantic, whimsical, vintage, holiday themed. And since the scrapbook papers come in books now, you can mix and match them so easily so that your do it yourself creation looks lovely! Scrapbook paper is thicker than other papers so there a few steps you'll need to take to decoupage it over your surface. Follow this DIY, do it yourself video so that you too, can make a lovely home organizational tool. You may already have something laying around your home that begging to be decoupaged using scrapbook papers. Paper punches work great on Scrapbook papers so make sure to use a few of those too! Check out my website, Upcycle with Decoupage to find all of the supplies you'll need!

This was very helpful! I've started to watch diy crafts with decoupage and kicking myself about the thousands of dollars I've spent on scrapbook paper; tools; punchouts; etc, that Ive never even opened. Now maybe I can use some of them with your technique. Thank you

Good Morning Patti What a great idea* using an already made hanger. I would never have thought of that. I also didn't know to wet the scrapbook paper before decoupaging. Love your color design and the added butterflies. I have a ton of scarves also, what a great project to do this winter. Enjoy your day Patti, loved the pictures at the end deezie

You chose a lovely pattern. Years ago I decoupaged simple glass plates, the ones like you would use at a reception. I'd find an interesting design, such as a train or antique dolls and put that in the center. Then I'd come around the sides to finish it. Once done, I'd paint gold around the edge, and then seal the back. Once done, people could use these as wall hangings. I loved doing them.
@patioelf
@patioelf 8 жыл бұрын
Thats' a great idea Jennifer! It also sounds like something that would make a great shower gift. The plates can follow the theme of the shower or wedding (colors) then people can take them home once they are wiped clean. I have a facebook page called Upcycle with Decoupage. If you have any of those left I would love to see one! Patti

Cute project. A helpful FYI: When you use a punch on scrapbook paper, turn the punch upside down so you can see where you are punching - helps you maximize the number of punches you can get from the sheet of paper.

Another work of art! I'm wondering if I could use wrapping paper in the same fashion and if yes, do I need to follow the same steps ie. dipping the paper sections directly into a container of water. I'm not familiar with scrapbook paper, but I've heard you say on another project that wrapping paper can ~typically~ be used. Thanks again for posting this remarkable tutorial!
@patioelf
@patioelf 8 жыл бұрын
+mary birder Thank you Mary and you are so welcome. I also use water dipping when I use wrapping paper but sometimes I get wrapping paper (usually around Christmas time) that's a lot thinner than usual so I don't need the water. :) Patti

Great project. How long does each coat of decoupage take to dry? Also, do you recommend using a lacquer spray paint as a top coat? Or would that cause issues? Thanks for the video! Michelle😊
@patioelf
@patioelf 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Michelle, and thank you. Decoupage glue and the paper normally take about a half an hour to dry between each coat (though it does dry faster in the winter when the heat is on) A top coat can be applied with the brush or a spray, whatever you prefer is fine. :) Patti

Love this, I have so many nice papers I could work with.. After placing the wet paper on top of the glue, do u wait for the paper to dry before adding the 1st layer of glue on the top of the paper or apply the 1st top glue layer whilst still wet?

With this paper you can apply the next layer while it's still wet. Thank you Julie! Patti

You have a pleasant voice, and fast paced. Would it b possible to do something very abstract or modern, maybe with a mirror, or frame , what is your latest book?
@patioelf
@patioelf 8 жыл бұрын
Hello Abby and thank you! Yes, with decoupage you can find any abstract print you like and work with it to create something that is more to your liking. I haven't worked on my second book-but my new website is coming out in a week and it's going to be very informative with several videos on it and a search bar so you can easily find what you're looking for. Sometimes youtube can be intimidating when you're trying to find something.. :) Patti

Can you do decoupage with actual photos that are printed on photo paper and dip them in water ?
@patioelf
@patioelf 8 жыл бұрын
yes you can-although if you have an ink jet printer the prints are not waterproof and will run and bleed. You can take your photo's to the copy center and make copies where the copy machines are all laser prints. Laser prints are waterproof and work well with decoupage projects. :) Patti

@patioelf
@patioelf 8 жыл бұрын
+Francesca Gonzales it depends on what you have used to color it with, but to be safe you can always make laser prints (if your printer is not a laser printer the copy centers all have them) of your creations and decoupage with those. Great idea Francesca! Patti

So just to be clear, it’s three coats of decoupage glue then a top coat. Cause you said three coats then top coat letting it dry in between each coat. I’m figuring you we’re just reiterating to let each glue coat dry thoroughly before the final top coat.
